Blazing fast and cheaper DataWarehouse and iOT platform

  • July 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Snowflake has ease of implementation, with no maintenance and has massive scalability. The storage cost is minimal. Horizontal and vertical scalability without any downtime. Elasticity of usage. The only database on the market that is truely built for cloud. Native support of Semi structured data
What do you dislike about the product?
MFA needs to be supported through any tool.Operational dashboard is needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enterprise Data Warehouse and Device data at scale. Minimal management roles like DBA and sysadmin. Focus on business enablement and real time data access. Advanced analytics enablement.

A data warehouse platform for the SaaS generation

  • July 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Low maintenance. No more downtimes! No rebalances. Full control over compute resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
My biggest gripe is privileges are not rules based. You have to re-grant permissions on objects you recreate. Not a big deal once you're steady state, but annoying in a collaboration development phase.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enterprise data warehouse. Single source of truth without limitations on data structure or size. Devs are amazed we can consume their JSON straight from S3 and turn it into reports so quickly.

data warehouse for Looker front end
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Talk to them to get a good estimate of how much it would cost, it may surprise you that it is the most cost effective option.

What do you like best about the product?
Snowflake is extremely agile in pulling down data from large data sets. The UI is simply and well designed. Quick queries allow beginners to try writing SQL and make quick adjustments until the correct result is achieved.
What do you dislike about the product?
The proprietary technology can turn some away with its secrets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Diving into large data sets and pulling out snippets of data that allow me solve data questions.

Optimally Structured SaaS Data Warehouse

  • March 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best parts about Snowflake are the ease of implementation, the no maintenance scalability and integration partner availability. From a storage perspective, it is extremely efficient. You can create a complete clone of a 5TB database (like a pointer) without using additional storage, only using enough storage to track changes. You can choose whether to persist the changes or create a real physical clone. This allows you to have staging copies to real-world test updates on live data before you commit them. Additionally...un-dropping dropped tables and point in time historical queries are nice too. Built in 2 factor auth is scalable.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are small admin usability features with the UI that could be improved, but it seems like with the latest release, they have addressed some of them. Easier 2 factor enrollment would be a nice to have. Honestly, you should not be able to enroll a user without 2 factor authentication enabled.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enterprise Data Warehouse at scale. Low people investment to get an enterprise solution in place. We can focus on the data vs the underlying technology struggles. There are integration partners like five tran and Matillion that work very well for ELT in order to get data into the Data Warehouse.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't waste your time setting up crazy configurations in the AZ arena. Just get this and start building. There is just not enough time to recreate the underlying plumbing every time you build a solution. This platform scales and is robust.

Data Management Solution for the future

  • January 31, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that compute is actually separated from the storage. This makes scaling so much easier but it also makes it much more cost effective. Now that they got the pricing model down to one minute increments this platform is extremely accessible no matter what size the organization and\or data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Loading data into the environment can be clumsy. But once you get the hang of it, it is fairly straightforward to automate with standard ETL tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are addressing our needs for business intelligence reporting. Time to insight has decreased significantly and we are able to ask much better questions of our data at a deeper level of granularity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure when comparing to competitors that you scrutinize the concept of storage being completely separate from compute. Also understand that there will be a need to adjust the way that you load data into the environment. While it is a standard database for querying it is not very performant on update and inserts.

Cost Efficient SQL with massive scalability!

  • January 29, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
UI, Querying speed, Quality of Support, Technology Events, query concurrency and the massive scalability they support!
What do you dislike about the product?
They have confusing terminologies that aren't very intuitive such as Warehousing, Databases. Also, they need to make data loading a lot more intuitive and easy. It should not take me more than 5 mins of time to get this done, even when I am new to Snowflake!

Also they need to make computing more affordable or give huge enterprise discounts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Writing SQL queries on massive amounts of RDBMS and JSON data. Also sharing queries was easy with SnowFlake.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it. A lot better than Redshift, BigQuery, RDS, Azure SQL etc..etc!

Snowflake stands ahead and deliver best result for cloud data warehouse computing

  • December 29, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to deploy and give great flexibility as Snowflake automatically scale up and scale down.
Great thing about Snowflake is having fundamentally solid SQL with lots of elasticity and easily works on dynamic environment.Snowflake support diverse set of data which include both structured and non structured data. Snowflake have very good customer support and answer the user queries very quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Speed and agility can be improved. Snowflake, is based on a non MPP database design which can delay automation and can take time for adhoc workload.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake easily automates the sizing, provisioning, maintenance, and scaling of cloud data warehouse.
