New user with some feedback
What do you like best about the product?
I like the web-UI front end with the ability to still write SQL code.
What do you dislike about the product?
I had issues with the fact that all column and database names were in upper-case. But one of the experts here helped me out with the issue. It might be good to have an option to use either upper or lower case.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're a new partner and Snowflake is helping us find partners that will mutually benefit both of our companies.
data enginee5r
What do you like best about the product?
Performance, easy to learn. Easy scaling is the one feature which made it really appealing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing as of now. Costing may be more transparent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We collect our game event table and do reporting on it. Snowflake is very fast, we are able to reload our dimension and fact tables easily.
Truly the best data management platform on the market
What do you like best about the product?
Snowflake has consistently exceeded expectations in terms of performance and capabilities. Their platform is smooth and intuitive and, above all, fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
The worksheets can use a lot of work. For example, there's no easy way - to my knowledge - to download a script aside from copy/pasting into a text editor. THere's also no way to save or share scripts across teams, which can be annoying
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake enabled our products to go to the next level by ingesting an order of magnitude more data.
Simple Performs and Flexible
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity of the software from setup, usage and overall performance
What do you dislike about the product?
Roles and permission management can get quickly complex
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Datawarehouse. We have got 3X average performance gains and are able to scale more quickly
Using SnowFlake to transition to cloud
What do you like best about the product?
The architecture and how it allows our business get value from our data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like to see more consistent performance on live connections with BI tools like Tableau
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance with our on prem data warehouse. We were able to go live with business requirements using SnowFlake.
Incredible performance and easy to roll out
What do you like best about the product?
Incredible query performance, easy to develop for, and even easier to transition to from our existing on-premise solution. The integrated workbooks are amazingly powerful as they currently exist, and we're excited to see the new features coming soon.
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of the system configuration is behind obscure DML commands, such as SSO settings, so I can't validate them at a glance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau views are running in a fraction of the time as compared to our on-premise EDW. Additionally, our slowly changing dimensions process and load in half the time.
Flexible compute means full control
What do you like best about the product?
I like the scalable nature of Snowflakes' warehouse billing. Combined with the flexible nature, the data sharing offers new product opportunities
What do you dislike about the product?
It's really easy to write poor queries and ramp up warehouse cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IT's enabled us to scale our platform inline with onboarding new customers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Monitor warehouse usage closely
Snowflake is a cloud-based data warehousing platform that offers several key features: 1. **Scalability**: Snowflake can scale up or down based on the workload, allowing for efficient resource management. 2. **Concurrency**: It supports multiple users and workloads simultaneously without performance degradation. 3. **Data Sharing**: Snowflake allows for secure and easy data sharing across different organizations and platforms. 4. **Separation of Storage and Compute**: This feature allows users to scale storage and compute resources independently, optimizing costs and performance. 5. **Support for Structured and Semi-Structured Data**: Snowflake can handle both structured data (like SQL tables) and semi-structured data (like JSON, Avro, and Parquet). 6. **Security**: It provides robust security features, including encryption, role-based access control, and network isolation. 7. **Ease of Use**: Snowflake offers a user-friendly interface and SQL support, making it accessible for users with different levels of technical expertise. 8. **Data Cloning**: It allows for zero-copy cloning, enabling users to create instant copies of databases without additional storage costs. 9. **Time Travel**: This feature allows users to access historical data and restore data to a previous state. 10. **Automatic Optimization**: Snowflake automatically optimizes storage and query performance without requiring manual tuning.
What do you like best about the product?
SQL Concurrency and separation of Storage and Compute, Time Travel, Zero Copy cloning, Materialized Views, Minimal DBA management
What do you dislike about the product?
More transparency into the Service part of the architecture (Global Services layer), Release new features with notifications to customers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workload isolation between diverse user groups
Downed the Snowflake Kool-Aid
What do you like best about the product?
The announcements and new releases are proof of the innovation of its leaders and their drive to put customers first. The fact that Snowflake keeps getting better and better with no downtime is amazing. Can't wait to see more!
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, can't think of one, but for my specific role, I would say it's hard to know who to talk to in the company due to the growth (a good problem to have, I suppose). It constantly changes making partner relationships difficult with Snowflake Sales Directors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently the big thing we are seeing is with MPP migrations coming up on end-of-life. Snowflake is the clear choice to maximize data warehousing and cloud benefits.
Just like any other database
What do you like best about the product?
The SQL standards followed by snowflake matches the ANSI standards and it's similar to majority of RDBMDS systems in terms of SQL syntax.
What do you dislike about the product?
Connectivity with other computing platforms like Spark or it's Python3 connector which i found major issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We created a warehouse of petabytes in snowflake, where we use it right for the complete data pipeline an ETL. We also built some interesting analytics app on top of it using it's Python connector and now having issues with it's Python3 connector.
