Data Warehouse Modernization
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to take several approaches in our data warehouse modernization journey - ease of lift and shift vs total refactoring. We can enable our customers at the speed of our data without the worry of replatforming to newer on prem infrastructure.
What do you dislike about the product?
Need a stronger set of capabilities to enable migration of large data sets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of scale to respond to heavy on demand workloads.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a journey, but well worth the patience to modernize.
A great, scaleable database
What do you like best about the product?
Our organization does not have a constant load on the database. With most solutions, this means that we normally need under powered hardware to save money, or over-sized servers to meet our peak load times. Snowflake's auto scaling and multi-cluster support have been extremely helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The federated login and duo support is buggy at best. We've enforced duo login for our ACCOUNTADMIN roles, but that makes dealing with most IDEs and Tableau a nightmare since they don't support the option to use private keys.
Additionally, the role based security is very hard to manage. We have 80 permission levels spread across 7 data domains. Since a user isn't able to utilize more than one role at a time, we have to then create user specific roles that inherit just their permissions. I would much rather simply assign roles to users and skip the role setting during login.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our biggest problems have been lack of horsepower on our servers. Snowflake has allowed us to scale our infrastructure in a much more cost effective way.
What a Database Should Be.
What do you like best about the product?
The separation of storage and compute can not be understated. It is exceptionally easy to get started and the browser based UI make development easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have yet to find a hard dislike. The IDE in browser could provide better autocomplete features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving from AWS Glue and Redshift, to snowflake we save a significant amount of $.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Within one day we were able to fully build our proof of concept with snowflakes trial account. Utilize the time to populate with your own data, and explore "Snowpipe".
Enablement through data and quantifiable ROI
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use platform that allows for separation of compute and storage enables the most effective database solution in it's technology generation. Additionally, the ability to scale up, scale down, and be able to manage without a team of DBA's allows for the highest value possible.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not applicable, it's been a great platform that enables the organiation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Billions of data stored without the heavy cost of netezza, teradata or orcale.

Get it, it's the easiest decision you'll ever make in terms of business ROI and technical capabilities.
Snowflake - nothing like it!!
What do you like best about the product?
Clear split between CPU and Storage. Pay as you go option works best. Best part is the no admin overhead like column compression, Primary keys etc. Cloning and Data sharing features are stand out and makes them stand out from other options.
What do you dislike about the product?
Snowflake is a blackbox and sometimes its hard to figure out why some queries take lot of time. Is it because they are supposed to or if something is wrong. Please work on that

Data sharing, Custom warehouses that help segregate heavy and minimal users. Development time is reduced
Best platform for former Oracle DBAs
What do you like best about the product?
As a former Oracle DBA, I really like the setup that I do not need to worry about adding more tablespaces and worrying about the compute.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of AD integration, as I still need to create users manually.

Each snowflake is unique, and every employee i have come in contact with so far are all extremely knowledge and professional. highly recommend!!

so far i have not found anything that i dislike in regards to snowflake

Best Cloud Data Warehouse
What do you like best about the product?
Snowflake is the answer to all those data warehousing pains from those on-prem solutions. Scalability, cloning, time-travel, etc... The list just goes on and on
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. Like I said best platform out there
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can have a test/dev database without all the extra hardware and software licenses. We don't have to worry about backups and restores. We can scale up during peak times and scale back down. No need for a DBA or sysadmin to service the box, add more hardware, etc.

Not possible! Snowflake is revolutionary in data warehousing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving problem throughout our . Sale, Finance, CS, Engineering, IT are all relying on Snowflake for their daily needs. We can answer question across the business at speeds not imaginable before.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't hesitate. Give this a try. We've were all disappointed by the Hadoop wave, this is much better direction.
