  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Snowflake has the very user-friendly feature of maintaining track of data and tickets, and their progress can be
tracked easily. The data loading and running of query languages like SQL is smooth and satisfies users.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few times when there needs to be up-to-date chat among the users regarding the ongoing project, users need to wait for the client or others to comment,
so there is a need for an interpersonal chat feature that can help the users to act immediately
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake is a platform that provides excellent consistency as well as user-friendliness while setting up a process. to activate or load a data cloud or sources to
the platform users do not need expertise on the same as the features are very easy to understand, which helps manage projects very efficiently.

Snowflake is an amazing tool with great speeds, scalability, controls different groups and security.

What do you like best about the product?
The speed at which Jira performs is exceptional and surpasses expectations. The pricing is similar to what one would usually pay for a SQL server license or a comparable tool. We have no maintenance responsibilities, and the execution speed for queries and data loading is impressive. Furthermore, Jira showcases remarkable proficiency in handling unstructured data such as JSON arrays or XML, demonstrating its exceptional capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to propose adding a feature called materialized views, which can potentially improve the performance of specific operations. It would be advantageous to have the flexibility of incorporating multiple tables within these materialized views. Furthermore, including cursor functionality would facilitate bulk updates and the execution of more advanced queries. Additionally, a valuable enhancement would be the ability to create tables as required dynamically.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake demonstrates exceptional stability and simplicity during the setup process. I found it effortless to activate and establish a dependable Data Warehouse without requiring extensive cloud expertise for administration. The user interface for database administration is intuitive, allowing for efficient management. The dynamic Roles feature greatly assists in implementing robust data governance and compliance practices within the organization

Best Thing For Data On Cloud Era

  • May 19, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
its computing speed, timely updates, documentation everything is fantastic. Its unique architecture help us to vanish disadvantages of tradition database tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think snowflake is costly if you can't use it properly. So some open guidelines should be provided. The snowflake cost calculator should provide so that customers can take a decision accordingly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
On prem sql server taking 3-4 hour to complete job but same implementation in snowflake takes only 6-8 mins. We don't need to keep DBA team as snowflake is SAAS.

Easy to manage with lots of features and good reliability

  • May 15, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The solution is primarily used for data warehousing.

What is most valuable?

It's a good tool. It is quite easy to manage.

There are a lot of features.

If you accidentally delete something, you can time travel and retrieve it.

Within half an hour or even 15 minutes, you can set up a new data warehouse, and you can clone a table or whatever you like.

It's easy to provide access to clients if they need to.

The solution is stable.

It can scale well.

There is good online documentation via the community, and you can learn the solution on your own.

What needs improvement?

These days, they are pushing users towards the GUI or graphical version. However, I am more familiar with the classic version. I'd like to continue to work with it using the older approach. That's just a personal choice. I prefer the database views like you would get on an SQL Server or other databases.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for two and a half years or so. I haven't used it for too long.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze. I've never had an issue when you connect it to your infrastructure. I'd rate the stability nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have 250 or more users on the solution currently. They are predominantly IT specialists, including engineers and developers. It's for those on the application side of development. The solution is scalable. I'd rate the scalability nine out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I've never directly dealt with technical support. We do have a direct contact. There are other people who might have. There might have been a version issue at some point. However, it wasn't something I dealt with. I've only interacted with the Snowflake community pages.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are currently moving everything from Oracle to Snowflake

We've used a combination of other tools in the past. We've used Microsoft's Stack, for example. We were using a SQL database in the past.

How was the initial setup?

We're migrating from Oracle right now. We have two people that handle the maintenance of the solution. A company may need two to four engineers to manage maintenance 24/7.

It's not difficult to deploy. It's pretty straightforward. It took us only a couple of minutes in order to get everything up and running.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay a licensing fee to use the solution. It's paid monthly. My understanding is that it is not that expensive. We might have a specific extra cost surrounding running it on a private cloud. I'd rate the cost as six out of ten. It's moderately priced compared to others on the market. That said, I don't directly manage the account and don't directly deal with pricing. We have a contract of three to five years.

What other advice do I have?

I'm an end-user.

Everything is on the cloud, and therefore I'm always using the latest version of the solution. It updates itself regularly.

It fulfills our needs, and it's easy to pick up by looking at some reference guides. I'm still getting used to the GUI. I might find it even easier to use if I go through more formal training. Right now, I've simply learned it on my own. Overall, I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Snowflake is that it is cloud independent and solves the problems for both data warehousing and storage.
What do you dislike about the product?
Snowflake can work on solving edge cases for all the solutions provided by it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake combines data warehousing and Storage into a single product without affecting the performance. It provides faster data retrieval as compared to other open source frameworks like Hive.
