    Computer Software

Easy to Use for Developers

  • May 31, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is most widely used Linux distribution which means there is a lot more support for it than any other distribution. It is easy to use and not provides good GUI for new users as well as CLIs for geeks. Many traditional consumer softwares are available for Linux which means you never really need to go back to Windows or Mac for even non-dev activities like movies or browsing or editing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Every new version of Ubuntu breaks a lot of things. All softwares need to catch up with the new versions. Some versions are supported for short durations only. You noticeably start hitting corner cases. For example new versions of Ubuntu doesn't allow transparent gnome terminal forcing me to look at alternatives. With the advent of cloud tools like docs, sheets, etc. it hardly matters which OS we use for general document editing - which used to be a problem as MS Word and other tools weren't available for Ubuntu
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I generally use Ubuntu for all my day to day professional programming and well as several part time projects. The OS itself along with most softwares that I need to use is free. When I was a student it was super useful as I couldn't afford license - but even now as a professional I find it's more easier to customize my CLI and other tools for optimal productivity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It could get frustrating to switch too but the efforts pay off well if you are patient.

it's fast, beautiful and free.. i don't want to use a different OS any time soon
What do you dislike about the product?
sometimes some APPS just close, and you have to try to open again
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It made me forget what is an anti-virus, for coding use it's amazing
Recommendations to others considering the product:
it's so easy to switch from windows and give it a try!

What do you dislike about the product?

I do most of my software development ssh'd in to a ubuntu VM and it makes life so easy with easy ssh and use of vim which is default of ubuntu

the most known linux software

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
is an open and secure code software where we can get different tools and applications similar to the applications that show us the proprietary software but these are totally free and it is super safe very rarely is attacked by hacker or by some computer virus is compactible with equipment Low requirements.
What do you dislike about the product?
its use in companies or institutions is not common it is mostly used in home equipment or some web servers, although it is open source some versions are paid with technical support and some software for devices such as printers, cameras and other devices is usually difficult to install and configure.
It is usually a difficult task to work with files coming from private operating systems since incompatibility is sometimes not read by the free software or if they arrive to execute it errors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
is used to manage servers because it allows a secure operating system free of hacker attacks or viruses that make us fail in turn, is a much faster implementation in computers and servers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if you need software that is fast with great support in terms of software and driver do not forget to choose ubuntu as it has multiple tools and applications that will streamline your work as well as an extensive list of drivers for your equipment or peripheral devices.

Ubuntu the most complete operating system based on Linux

  • May 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Ubuntu is that it allows you to update applications with just one click, as the operating system updates are somewhat more complicated but it really is very comfortable because unlike other operating systems it is not necessary to reinstall the entire system with each new update.

Another aspect that I like about Ubuntu is the security it offers to surf the internet and run applications, mainly because I do not need to use any antivirus like in Windows, the antivirus is not only annoying but also consumes CPU resources, for this very reason Linux-based system such as Ubuntu consumes much less resources therefore it is ideal for limited computers in this regard.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest problem that a Linux-based system has is when it is used as a personal system and it is about using applications that use closed source libraries such as Photoshop or Directx. In this case you can use solutions that allow these applications to work but normally the common user can not carry it out due to its difficulty.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At work we have been using Ubuntu as the main system for a long time since the costs of Windows licenses were an unnecessary expense because most of the work done can be done from the browser using cloud-based applications such as Google Sheets. On the other hand, using Linux, we feel more secure in terms of our sensitive information, since most malware is created for Windows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Of course! Ubuntu is an excellent alternative that you must take into account not only because it is free but also because it is a very safe system and this is something very important in the business world. In addition, the main applications used to work as LibreOffice or Firefox can be used in Ubuntu natively.

Ubuntu is the best Linux based system

  • May 23, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Ubuntu wich I like the most is that we can use it at work for free because operating systems based on the Linux kernel do not require a license or subscription to use them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Linux does not directly support Windows applications, so it is necessary to go to alternatives such as Wine, a Windows application emulator that does not always work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my company, we have been working with Ubuntu for a long time, since the applications we use on a regular basis are multi-platform, so we do not have incompatibility problems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ubuntu is an operating system that I recommend mainly if you are looking for a secure environment and that is updated on a regular basis so that we have access to the latest versions of the software without risking the security of our computer and the network in which it is located.

Ubuntu the best Linux based system

  • May 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Personally, what I liked the most about Ubuntu is that we can use it at work for free because operating systems based on the Linux kernel do not require a license or subscription to use them. If we use the official Ubuntu version we can enjoy a desktop based on GNOME (although we can choose from several more), this desktop is the closest to a Mac desktop that I have seen in a Linux system but personally I think more a combination of Mac and Windows in terms of aesthetics.

From a Linux system we can really do the same things as under Windows 10 but we will probably need alternative applications to do so since Windows programs (.exe) do not work under Linux unless they are cross-platform.

Regarding the performance in my experience is superior to Windows, I think that in large part is because Linux systems do not require Antivirus and this service usually consumes many resources when used under Windows.
What do you dislike about the product?
While it is possible to operate almost any Windows application in Linux requires a level of knowledge that not all users have or if they have it is too long to configure everything since it usually requires some guidance found on the internet to be able to use the application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem that Ubuntu solves us is that of being able to save the cost of the license of WIndows 10 which is very expensive and with an unaffordable cost for companies that are not very big, using Ubuntu is totally free and once you are used to using it you will notice the difference. The main applications that we use like Firefox or Chrome are available in the Ubuntu repositories.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Linux, in this case Ubuntu manages resources much better than Windows so if business has several old computers improve your speed I recommend you use this operating system. Also if you are looking to save money is an excellent alternative, although it will take you time to make the change, surely the economic situation of your company will improve.

Best OS ever

  • May 09, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is very useful mostly as an IT guy . I learnt more about networking using Ubuntu more then using other OS in the business .Its simple ,very flexible, very advanced and needs a set of skills to use so as to obtain the result needed.
Coders are certainly a major user base for Ubuntu. One advantage of Ubuntu for programmers is cross-platform development; projects can be deployed across a wide range of Ubuntu platforms (such as desktop, server, IoT). Further, coders can create Snaps, or packaged apps with all of their dependencies, which are compatible with many distros other than Ubuntu. Another perk is that Ubuntu supports nearly every coding language you throw at it, including Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Perl, C, and C++. And since Ubuntu is open-source, you can easily drill down to low-level areas of the operating system, too.

That said, Ubuntu is not just for people who argue with compilers all day. Businesses and governments are also potential user bases, since Linux tends to be highly stable. Additional user groups are the hobbyists and regular desktop users. Raspberry Pi, the Intel NUC, and other home-brewed IoT devices are all prime candidates for Ubuntu.
Also Ubuntu is a better in programming also and has simple ways of coding and also nice sheets .
also Ubuntu as an t guy helps you manage your platform of computers or network for a better performance.
I love it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that Ubuntu doesn't give you easily is game access. Ubuntu takes alot of process so as to enable games in your device. Most of the time you have to use wine window loader so as to enable games but also sometimes it wont work .
And also if the game plays it will have a lot of glitches during launching.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu has benefited me n some areas . Mostly networking, coding, dns problems and also provides a good work space for me
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its the best OS you will ever use just have the skills to do so.
And never give up
