  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the UI of Ubuntu; it's clean and very attractive. Ubuntu runs smoothly even on mid-range or older hardware, which is great if you're using laptops without dedicated graphics. Most people switch to Ubuntu because of its smooth interface. The step-by-step graphical installer is clear and well explained. Ubuntu offers automatic options that can partition the disk, install alongside Windows (dual boot), and configure networking and drivers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Major version upgrades sometimes break extensions or drivers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu helps me a lot with my AI firewall research as a defender firewall. It runs smoothly on mid-range or older hardware and has a clean and attractive UI. The step-by-step graphical installer makes setup easy.

Smooth, Secure, and Efficient—A Backend Developer’s Dream

  • December 23, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Ubuntu in my daily work, and I really like it because it is very smooth, even while working with large files during development. As a backend developer, I especially like the terminal. Using the terminal, I can do almost anything on my laptop very efficiently. Ubuntu is also more secure and stable, and it doesn't have frequent bugs or crashes like Windows.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Ubuntu is that some applications are not created for Ubuntu and only work properly on Windows or macOS. Sometimes even small tasks can take longer because I need to use terminal commands and may have to run them multiple times to get the work done. Also, when I open too many applications at once, memory management is not always great, and the system may crash, but this happens very rarely.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu solves many problems related to development and deployment, and that benefits me a lot in my daily work. i like its excellent support for development tools and programming languages Most backend roles work out of the box without much setup. Since Ubuntu is open source and highly customizable, I can configure my system exactly the way I want, which improves my productivity. I also use Ubuntu as my container OS, and my deployments are done on Ubuntu as well. Because of this, I can do everything directly from the terminal, from development to deployment, which makes my workflow faster and more consistent. Another feature I really like is the three-finger swipe gesture, which allows me to switch between workspaces quickly. During development, I keep one project editor open in one workspace and another project in a different workspace, and using the three-finger swipe, I can switch instantly and work faster. Ubuntu also shows all running background applications in the status bar, so I can easily see what is running and quit any application directly from there when needed. In addition to this, Ubuntu has strong community support and documentation, so whenever I face an issue, I can quickly find a solution online. It also offers regularly updated and long-term support versions, which provide stability and security for long-term development work.

Dependable and User-Friendly, Ideal for Development

  • December 23, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Ubuntu mainly as a reliable daily-use operating system, and it works well for coding, running servers or virtual machines, and handling tasks like browsing and file management without slowing down. I love Ubuntu’s stability, strong security, and wide software support, which makes it easy to focus on work rather than system maintenance. The large community and frequent updates help ensure tools and issues are well supported. I find Ubuntu dependable and user-friendly while still being powerful under the hood. It runs smoothly even on modest hardware, with consistent updates that aren't disruptive. The built-in security features make me confident using it daily. The huge software repository and community support are amazing, as there's usually a quick solution available when needed. I appreciate that Ubuntu strikes a great balance between simplicity and flexibility, making it work well for both everyday use and technical tasks like development or system administration. Setting it up was simple and stress-free, with the installer guiding me smoothly through each step, making my first experience very positive.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I really like Ubuntu, there are a few areas that could be better. Some hardware especially newer graphics cards, Wi-Fi adapters, or printers can still require extra manual setup, which isn’t always beginner-friendly. Major version upgrades can occasionally introduce small bugs or break custom settings, and certain proprietary software or games don’t run as smoothly compared to other operating systems. The default desktop customization options also feel a bit limited unless you install additional tools, so improving out-of-the-box flexibility and hardware compatibility would make the experience even better. From my experience, Ubuntu would feel much smoother if newer graphics cards just worked perfectly right after installation. Dealing with proprietary drivers, especially for NVIDIA, can sometimes feel like trial and error.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is my reliable daily-use OS for development, learning, and productivity. It solves the frustration of constant system maintenance, prevents crashes, and eliminates license fees, letting me focus on work without worrying about security. Its stability and support make software installation and updates straightforward.

Fast, Developer-Friendly, But Needs Better Compatibility

  • December 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Ubuntu mainly for coding and software development. It's fast and lightweight, making my older laptop run much smoother compared to other operating systems. What I like most about Ubuntu is how easy it is to use—it's perfect for both beginners and more experienced users. I really appreciate the Software Center; it makes installing and managing apps super easy, whether I'm looking for productivity tools, games, or development software. I also love the Terminal because it's a powerful tool for developers, and commands like apt-get for installing programs are super quick.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu is super great but there are few things that could be improved. One issue is software compatibility because some programs especially games or niche apps are designed for Windows and while tools like Wine or Proton help, it's not always perfect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is fast and lightweight, making my older laptop run smoother. It's easy to use for both beginners and experienced users, and it simplifies installing and managing apps with the Software Center. The Terminal and commands like apt-get enhance development efficiency.

User-Friendly and Versatile: Ubuntu Makes Linux Accessible

  • December 21, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is one of the most popular and user friendly linux distributions and there are several reasons why I appreciate it. The user interface is clean, intuitive and beginner friendly ideal for users transitioning from windows or mac os.
Most common tasks (software installation, updates, system settings) are straightforward and don't require deep command line knowledge.
Friendly installer with guided partitioning and hardware detection. Preconfigured drivers for many devices help the system work well out of the box.
I use it regularly for development, testing, productivity workflows and servers.
What do you dislike about the product?
The default GNOME desktop can feel heavy on older or low spec hardware. Compared to lighter desktop environments, Ubuntu may consume more RAM and CPU.
Ubuntu's strong push toward snap packages can be inconvenient.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is free and open source, which reduces software cost while still offering enterprise grade stability and features. I can deploy Ubuntu on multiple systems- desktops, servers and cloud instances, without worrying about licensing or compliance costs.
