Cybersecurity journey with Ubuntu

  • November 01, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is my favorite operating system for cybersecurity work. I use it every day and I’ve done everything on it from setting up secure servers to running security tests. It’s easy to install, and the interface is clean and simple to understand.

like that Ubuntu is open-source, so I can change things to fit my needs. I’ve used tools like Wireshark, Nmap, and Metasploit on Ubuntu without any problems. It also gets regular updates, which helps keep my system safe from threats

And integration part is also easy in this.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I find it hard to use certain apps on Ubuntu, especially ones made for Windows. I had to look for other tools or learn how to use Wine to run them. It took extra time and effort, and at first, it was a bit confusing.

Remaining overall its good to use and handle and quick customer support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu makes my work easier because it doesn’t crash or slow down like other systems. It runs fast and smooth. I don’t have to worry about viruses or surprise updates. It’s also free, so I save money. I use it to set up servers, run apps in containers, and manage cloud stuff. It’s simple to use and helps me get things done without needing to buy extra software.

Lightweight, Cost-Effective, and Perfect for Cloud

  • October 29, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Ubuntu’s lightweight nature and its cost-effectiveness since it is an open-source operating system with no licensing fees. This has been particularly beneficial in my organization, which operates in a cloud-based environment using Azure Virtual Machines. Ubuntu's compatibility with Docker makes it ideal for deploying applications through docker images, maintaining them easily, and scaling them as required. The widespread adoption of Ubuntu in the industry as an organizational standard for production-ready environments adds to its reliability. I value Ubuntu's strong support community and the frequent updates and upgrades it receives. The ease of setup when being deployed in Azure environments, due to the existing agreements and configurations, requires minimal effort from my side. Ubuntu has proven to be a strategic choice, outperforming alternatives like Windows that are heavier and have slower boot times, especially when integrating with Docker, which is cumbersome and not fully supported on Windows systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
In some cases, Ubuntu poses limitations in pipeline deployment scenarios where specific tasks require the Windows operating system. This is notably an issue for custom tasks within my organization, such as tasks that involve sending emails from mail servers that might be purchased by my company. These tasks may not be compatible with Ubuntu and necessitate Windows to execute correctly, thereby creating a limitation where Ubuntu cannot perform these pipeline tasks successfully.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu for deploying applications with Docker images, benefiting from its lightweight nature, cost-effectiveness, open-source support, and extensive library resources.

Rock-solid and clean OS for dev work

  • October 24, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s stable, fast, and everything just works out of the box. I use it daily for backend development, and the terminal experience is smooth. Package management with apt is easy, and I like how Docker, Node, and other tools install without any setup mess. The LTS version gives peace of mind for long-term projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes drivers (especially for Wi-Fi or GPUs) act weird after updates. Also, Snap packages can be slow — I mostly switch to apt or direct deb installs. Other than that, not much to complain about.

The King of the Linux OS

  • October 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is very user-friendly and is an excellent choice for those new to Linux. Many applications come pre-installed, and you also have access to tools like Snapstore, Flatpak, and the APT package system. If you're worried about using the command line, Ubuntu makes things much simpler, allowing you to accomplish most tasks without needing to rely heavily on terminal commands.
What do you dislike about the product?
Snap packages can be sluggish to start, and some users dislike the forced Snap integration. Memory usage is higher than minimal distros like Debian or Arch, and occasional GNOME shell extensions break after updates. Ubuntu’s default look also hasn’t changed much in years — functional but not exciting. Innovation? Not much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu addresses the fundamental challenges of software cost, stability, and flexibility. It offers a fully functional, secure, and open-source operating system that doesn’t require costly licenses or frequent maintenance. I rely on it for development, multimedia tasks, and everyday computing, and it consistently performs without the unnecessary bloat or forced updates that are typical of many commercial systems. The package management system and extensive repository make installing new tools straightforward, while its reliability allows me to concentrate on my work rather than dealing with system crashes. Frankly speaking, Ubuntu is much more stable, secure and efficient to get job done compared to Windows.

Overall, Ubuntu provides me with a dependable, free, and customizable platform that maximizes productivity and minimizes system-related frustrations.

Reliable and user-friendly operating system for web development.

What do you like best about the product?
I value Ubuntu's robust command line interface and the Advanced Package Tool (APT), which streamline the processes of installing, updating, and removing software. The system's stability, security, and extensive customization options provide an ideal environment for Laravel development. Additionally, Ubuntu's similarity to most server environments ensures that transitioning from local development to production deployment is both smooth and consistent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some software I use is not available on Ubuntu, like Adobe Creative Suite or certain proprietary tools. New users might also struggle with Linux concepts such as file permissions, package management, and system services at first. There may be occasional compatibility problems with software that only works on Windows or macOS, but these can be managed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu solves the problem of system instability and crashes that I faced with other operating systems while working on multiple projects and servers at the same time. It offers a stable environment where my system rarely crashes or hangs, even during heavy workloads. This stability is vital for smooth development and testing. Furthermore, Ubuntu simplifies server setup for live projects, making it easier and more reliable. This helps me deploy and manage projects effectively without downtime or configuration problems.
