Although Common Always Changing

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about this product is that it has a wide user base so that if you every get into trouble the answer is usually a quick Google away
What do you dislike about the product?
What I really don't like is that the back end keeps changing on what Ubuntu include and what they don't or just basically how they do things changes from one LTE version to the next
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are utilizing this in our labs and as they are labs we are trying to keep the cost down and hence why Ubuntu and not Redhat (yes we could have used Centos but here we are use to the Debian flavour hence Ubuntu)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Each Company needs to select its own flavor of Linux if it chooses to go down that path

    Computer Software

One of the easiest Linux OS to use

  • July 25, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like so much that's so similar to windows talking about the user interface, that's easy to navigate and use and a windows user can change to Ubuntu without lot of issues. You can find in Ubuntu a "Windows" interface with a lot of customization. All of that with the advantages of free source and Linux OS, it saved me lot of times when windows was not able to delete certain files that with Ubuntu was easy job. And it's free!
What do you dislike about the product?
I hate it so much to install drivers, it's not as easy as in windows and you need to download drivers and package with prompt, and it freezes sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used it for lot of projects in my computer engineering career, to simulate 3D environments with physics through qt editor based on opengl.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a windows user and you consider Ubuntu or KDE, pick Ubuntu, it's so easy to do and you'll find the transition between windows and Linux not a big deal. I think that's a really friendly OS.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Free And Secured Operating System Available in Market

  • July 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing is that it is free of cost and is very secure compared to Windows and no antivirus is needed for this. No tension for license renewal
What do you dislike about the product?
We cannot customise its UI and Microsoft applications cannot be installed in it as it has its own Libra office which is not very convenient as compared to Microsoft office.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We all have Ubuntu installed in our laptops since it is a free source and is secured.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
have to work upon its applications availability

Ubuntu makes life easy

  • July 08, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ubuntu is extremely easy to customize, personalize, and use. if you are coming from another operating system, there are plugins and themes to make it seem more connected to your prefered operating system.
What do you dislike about the product?
too many choices. when you search on how to do something, you will get back a few different paths - some easy, and some difficult. you have to remember which path you started before you can continue further down your path. for example, if you have a web server, and want to add HTTPS to it, you first have to determine which server you have, and then you can plot a path for adding HTTPS, but you can't start with one server, and then add a new server + HTTPS - you first have to remove your first server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
if you are looking for a real quick and dirty environment to do something - create a website, FTP, etc - and don't want to use the Cloud - Ubuntu is an awesome alternative. you can install the operating system in minutes (depending on speed of computer), type a few commands, and get a top quality web daemon running quickly after. Ubuntu is able to quickly update itself with patches so you can download a DVD once per year, use it, and then discard it if not necessary.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ubuntu is a very worthy alternative to other operating systems, and to other versions of Linux. they are constantly updating and refining the product, and the quality work they put in shows. you can get one of the other versions, but ubuntu is sure to handle the non-experienced all the way to the super experienced user.

The best OS opensource

  • May 23, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Ubuntu since I started playing with the PC, I started with a server version and then switched to the GUI version to reuse an old computer that no longer held Windows. In the beginning there were some problems, but once the operation was understood, they were able to use it in full.
What do you dislike about the product?
Negatives I can not find, online answers are found to solve any problem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better management of PCs, which maybe do not hold more complete and paid OS.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The best operating system to keep using old PCs.

What do you like best about the product?
Quick and easy install with drivers pre loaded which is a much better option for me over Centos.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside for me is the GUI. Not because it’s bad. I’m just used to Windows
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Ubuntu as a data capture catalyst for one of our email services. Just seeing what goes in and out.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Comes with drivers!

A great solution for personal and business information systems

  • March 12, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Besides the price tag (free), Ubuntu gives a lot of flexibility for home and business use. It also does not require top-of-the-line hardware to function well. Most of my equipment has Ubuntu loaded on it.
What do you dislike about the product?
There really isn't anything I dislike about Ubuntu Server. However, the Unify UI (default) in Ubuntu desktop is still a sore spot for me. I generally remove it and switch to Mate or Cinnamon shortly after installing the OS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily use Ubuntu Server. Currently I run three: a front-end web server for a local guestbook program that tracks attendance for a lab I manage, a database server to replicate the data stored on server A, and a SMB file server at home with an OwnCloud front-end and OpenVPN.

Use docker to develop different platforms support App, special for the arm.
