  • December 12, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most is the GUI, which is both attractive and intuitive. The apt installation process is straightforward, making it easy to use and manage. The user-friendly graphical interface provides clear navigation options, which really helps ease the transition into the Linux ecosystem.
What do you dislike about the product?
an option to open apps in admin mode or sudo mode is not present via gui
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This tool is excellent for developers because it encourages learning how to integrate with the system as a whole, rather than simply relying on an app. It is also very effective for debugging directly from the CLI and navigating around the IDE during development.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Ubuntu has a light interface that doesn't overwhelm me with a lot of UIs and stuff. It's also virus-free, which is a big plus for me. Rock-Solid, Hassle-Free Ubuntu Experience on DigitalOcean

  • December 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Ubuntu on DigitalOcean droplets is how predictable and low-friction it is to run in production. It’s widely supported, so almost every guide, package, and integration assumes Ubuntu first, which makes provisioning and troubleshooting quick. The LTS releases are stable and get security updates for years, so you can standardise across droplets and avoid “pet server” drift.

Package management with apt is straightforward, and the ecosystem around common stacks (Nginx, PHP-FPM, MySQL/Postgres, Redis, Docker) is mature and well documented, which keeps deployments consistent.

On top of that, it plays nicely with automation tools and CI/CD, and it’s easy to harden with sensible defaults like UFW, fail2ban, unattended upgrades, and SSH key auth, which is ideal when you’re managing multiple production droplets.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Ubuntu is mostly the “it depends what you installed last” factor once a server’s been around for a while. It’s easy for droplets to drift if you’re not strict with automation and config management, and then upgrades become a bit of a game of “what will break this time.”

Major version upgrades can be painful on production stacks, especially when PHP/MySQL/Nginx versions and third-party repos are involved, so you often end up planning bigger maintenance windows than you’d like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu solves the core problem of running reliable servers without having to reinvent the basics every time. On DigitalOcean droplets, it gives a stable, well-supported Linux base with predictable networking, package management, and service control, so spinning up a new environment is quick and consistent. Because Ubuntu is so widely used, most tooling and documentation assumes it, which reduces setup time and makes troubleshooting faster when something goes wrong.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu solves a number of problems, chief of which is it provides a familiar Debian-based environment, with a Long Term Support (LTS) upgrade cycle. The platform has all the package management tools one can wish for alongside familiar open source software repos

Best Operating System for LLM Training and AI Development at Turing

  • December 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is extremely stable, lightweight, and perfectly suited for LLM training and AI development at Turing. It provides excellent support for Python, CUDA, Docker, and ML frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow. The terminal, package management (APT), and GPU driver support make it ideal for handling large datasets, model training, and automation workflows. Its open-source nature, security, and long-term support releases make it a reliable choice for continuous AI research and development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Driver configuration for GPUs can sometimes be complex during initial setup. Certain proprietary tools and software still lack full Linux compatibility. Occasional kernel or version upgrades may require system reconfiguration. For beginners, the command-line environment can have a learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu provides a high-performance, secure, and cost-effective environment for LLM training, data processing, and AI model deployment at Turing. It supports scalable training infrastructure, smooth containerization with Docker, and efficient resource management. This significantly improves training stability, reduces system overhead, ensures better hardware utilization, and increases overall productivity in large-scale AI workflows.
