Secure platform has boosted daily operations, supported AI work, and improved customer trust

  • December 19, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

In my day-to-day work, I collect customer data and different reports for telecom organizations using Ubuntu Linux only. I troubleshoot customer nodes via Ubuntu Linux exclusively because all customer nodes are on Linux servers with different virtual versions that are all controlled by Ubuntu Linux. Since this is a daily part of my work, it has become one of the key roles in my daily responsibilities.

Recently, Ubuntu Linux has played a key role in AI/ML use cases, IoT device management, and daily tasks that came from desktop computing. These are now being used in day-to-day use cases. Application development setup is also being done from Ubuntu Linux only. Millions of websites and cloud applications like OpenStack and AWS are also becoming more stable from a security perspective, and all are being handled by Ubuntu Linux.

What is most valuable?

The best features of Ubuntu Linux are that it is user-friendly and simply accessible. The built-in firewall, which is UFW, encryption, full disk or folder encryption, regular security updates, and Secure Boot for IoT are also significant advantages. Additionally, it is open-source and completely free to use. Ubuntu Linux is optimized for speed and efficient on older hardware with lightweight components.

Ubuntu Linux has impacted my organization by providing a cost-effective, secure, and highly flexible platform. It is widely used across servers, cloud environments, and developer workstations. It helps my organization reduce operational costs, enhance security, and boost developer productivity.

In the last year, approximately twenty percent sales increased after using Ubuntu Linux. Ubuntu Linux has a robust security model with the built-in firewall UFW that I mentioned earlier. Regular automatic security updates and the permission system make it highly resistant to malware and viruses. These features attracted customers, and they believed in the security provided, which significantly increased our sales.

What needs improvement?

Ubuntu Linux should select the fastest mirror for software updates in the software and update settings. It should also consider enabling the pro methods for enhanced security and maintenance.

I would suggest disabling unnecessary applications from launching at boot using tools like GNOME to free RAM and CPU. Ubuntu Linux can regularly run auto clean to clear all cache. Preload installation can be done, which will help applications launch faster by preloading frequently used ones into memory. The Terminal can be improved, and swappiness optimization can be performed.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for around four and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Ubuntu Linux appears to be very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Ubuntu Linux handles growth and increased workloads well. Ubuntu Linux can handle growth easily and has a good level of scalability.

How are customer service and support?

In terms of customer support for Ubuntu Linux, it appears very good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, Kali Linux was being used by my organization, but it did not suit my organization as the UI was very slow, different issues used to occur, and the support was not available.

I did not evaluate much because all of my colleagues suggested going for Ubuntu Linux only.

What was our ROI?

In the last year, approximately twenty percent of sales increased due to Ubuntu Linux, and ten percent of workload decreased after using Ubuntu Linux.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In terms of pricing and licensing, it seems very reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

The security upgrades and lightweight components made a noticeable impact in my daily work. The built-in firewall and encryption methods really enhance the security of our customers, which increased our customer base because they believed that using Ubuntu Linux, our security has reached a maximum point and they can safely use it with confidence.

I would advise customers that I was also using different versions of Linux like Kali Linux, but after using Ubuntu Linux, the UI and application seem much easier. It is open-source, so I would recommend trying it for at least a few months, and then you will see the difference and will never leave it. My overall rating for Ubuntu Linux is eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Ubuntu is my favorite OS. The UI is very comfortable and allows me to multitask easily with many customization options. I really enjoy the 100% control over the machine, especially using the terminal.
What do you dislike about the product?
The support of 3rd party apps should be more.

Lightweight OS with AWS Compatibility, But Offline Challenges

  • December 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Ubuntu is a lightweight and open-source operating system. It works efficiently on less core and RAM, and it does the job well. I find it faster than Windows and appreciate that it operates without any GUI processing fuss. I also like its compatibility with applications and its availability on platforms like AWS, which makes it easy to create an Amazon EC2 instance and install software like NGINX.
What do you dislike about the product?
Working in an air-gapped environment with Ubuntu is challenging. It's really difficult to bring in packages, set up, or install any applications and transfer data across different operating systems. Providing updates is cumbersome, especially in offline environments. Containerization isn't feasible offline; unlike Redhat which has OpenShift, Kubernetes doesn't work well without internet for Ubuntu.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is a lightweight, open-source OS that works well on machines with fewer resources. It's faster than Windows, without any GUI processing hassle, compatible with many applications, and available on platforms like AWS.

Perfect for Revitalizing Older Devices

  • December 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is the best operating system for low-end devices, especially for my 8-year-old laptop that doesn't run Windows well. I appreciate the user interface and the control I have over my system, particularly with fast switching of tabs and the ability to control everything via the terminal. The initial setup was very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The support for 3rd party apps
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find Ubuntu ideal for low-end devices. It revived my old laptop that struggled with Windows. I enjoy the fast tab switching and terminal control, though I wish it had better 3rd party app support.

Fast, Secure, and Developer-Friendly

  • December 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Ubuntu because it's very fast and secure for software development. I find it easy to navigate, and it's very helpful that we can install anything via the terminal. The ability to easily search and pin apps to the left sidebar saves me a lot of searching time, allowing me to navigate directly to frequently used apps. The initial setup is very easy; creating a bootable pendrive and installing directly on system restart is straightforward.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the speed of sudo is very slow, which could be improved. Also, the power management doesn't perform well. Another area for improvement is the UI and graphics; they currently lack a consistent visual theme, and the fonts differ with third-party apps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu for software development because it's fast, secure, and easy to navigate. Installing via terminal simplifies processes. I save time by pinning frequently used apps to the sidebar for quick access.

Versatile OS for Server Use with Easy Setup

  • December 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Ubuntu for server purposes, like hosting websites, running my DNS server, and Python and Node.js backends, as well as for FTP. It's a low-cost OS and runs on minimal system configuration, which is really good. I also like that there are lots of packages available, and many apps are built for it. It's easy to set up and provides a good experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Ubuntu had a more efficient and optimized GUI, similar to macOS, then it would be my daily OS for my system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is a low-cost OS that runs on minimal system configurations, perfect for hosting websites, DNS, and FTP servers, with abundant packages and apps.

Lightweight Powerhouse, Ideal for Developers

  • December 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Ubuntu typically for a Linux-themed terminal that lets me work on tasks I can't do on Windows. The updates are stable, and I find the UI to be minimal, which is great for RAM management; it really helps with battery life and RAM efficiency. Ubuntu is a very lightweight OS yet very powerful and has almost everything needed except for gaming. I think running AI models locally works very well on Ubuntu because the OS uses very little RAM, so it allocates resources more efficiently compared to Windows. Lastly, I found the initial setup to be very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think they should also try improving on compatibility for gaming. Ubuntu’s gaming compatibility is very narrow, and they should do something so that whatever games we can run on Windows can also be run on Ubuntu. Gamers can also enjoy better RAM management than Windows, which is good for gaming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu for a Linux-themed terminal, as it provides stable updates, good RAM and battery management, and a lightweight OS that supports local AI model execution better than Windows.
