Secure open-source platform ideal for coding and cybersecurity tasks

  • September 12, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Ubuntu Linux for program coding and for some security tasks. I practice cybersecurity on it to identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

What is most valuable?

Ubuntu is a very secure and perfect operating system. It's an open-source and free platform, which makes it accessible and useful.

What needs improvement?

Currently, I'm just practicing with Ubuntu, so I haven't delved deeply enough to give a definitive answer on what needs improvement. However, one thing I've noticed is network connectivity issues where packets are sometimes lost. Also, there are difficulties when using graphical interfaces, but this might be due to my system's limitations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Ubuntu Linux for personal use for the last two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not faced any stability issues, crashes, or downtimes as a personal user.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Ubuntu is simple. It involves booting from a USB, selecting region and time, and then setting up the partitions before the installation process completes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Ubuntu Linux is open-source and free to use, which makes it cost-effective.

What other advice do I have?

Ubuntu is an open-source platform, which makes it a free and accessible choice. If someone asks me, I would recommend saying goodbye to Windows and switching to Ubuntu.
