Linux's advanced terminal empowers versatile usage and ongoing secure development

  • January 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use it for self-service applications, containerization, security, and backup. There are so many use cases; I can't mention everything.

What is most valuable?

I find the terminal valuable for pasting some commands and using some software as well. It's probably called a terminal and shell environment.

What needs improvement?

There's nothing more to improve. I would just continue developing the functionality that is already implemented, maybe with more graphical implementation inside the OS.

Additionally, a more secure implementation would be good.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used it for many years, maybe ten-plus.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There were stability issues at specific times.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is not key, however, I have to practice using it correctly.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have also used macOS, Windows 2, Windows Server, Fedora, and many more. I find it more efficient than other systems, but I have to do what I want to do myself.

How was the initial setup?

Initially, there was nothing complicated. It's easy since I have many years of experience with it. However, if I were a beginner with Linux, it could be completely disruptive compared to Windows. So, I would have to spend some time practicing with Linux to understand how it works and how I can accomplish the same tasks compared to Windows. Maybe one month, at least.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The setup cost is free.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I rate this solution ten out of ten.

light weight ness and GUI engancement of the ubuntu.

  • October 31, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ubuntu is really best for development, weather it is a web application developement or mobile application. I have been using it since last 4 years and it is running so smoothly. Ubuntu has really worked on its look and feel. Since the Gnome 46(ubuntu 24.04) its new look is just fabulous. and the support to more application is just great. One of the best feature I like about ubuntu is its multiple display transition. It is just so smooth allowing filtering the apps on diffrent displays.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it gives problem to mounting of external devices. But that is fixable. If we little commands on terminal and understanding of the ubuntu file system, it is solvable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My hardware is not that mych powerful and that's why for such configuration, ubuntu is giving me best performance.
