Efficient for Development, Falls Short on Gaming
What do you like best about the product?
I use Ubuntu for development and office work. It's easy on lower end systems, which I find valuable. The command line makes life easier, allowing people to work fast and efficiently. I like how it facilitates easy collaboration without needing extra software. The SSH command is a highlight for working on other systems and achieving easy collaboration. I appreciate Spotify having features specifically for Ubuntu, like its minimal look. Setting it up was very easy for someone into tech.
What do you dislike about the product?
Gaming on Ubuntu is quite abysmal, and OS-specific gaming drivers are required.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is easy on lower-end systems and minimal. It uses Linux commands, making work fast and easy. SSH command enables collaboration without extra software.

What do you like best about the product?
I like using Ubuntu for development purposes because it provides a hassle-free experience. Installing tools is straightforward and can be done in minutes with simple commands. I also appreciate the very good security and how clean everything is in Ubuntu. It offers a great and simple interface with great tools, making me feel secure and enabling me to get things done efficiently. The initial setup was very easy, as setting up the username and password was smooth, and you're good to go.

Secure and Efficient, But Lacks Advanced Design Tools
What do you like best about the product?
I run Ubuntu on my second PC and use it for development. It's secure and very fast, which is really important to me. It also gives me better control over external drives. I like that it has a very useful terminal. I had a situation where my hard drive was damaged and I couldn't use CMD to recover data, but I used ddrescue, and my data was saved. That was a huge relief for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the graphic design tools on Ubuntu to be very basic. It should support Adobe apps to make it better. Also, the initial setup was slightly tough.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is secure, fast, and gives me better control over external drives. It has a useful terminal and saved my data using ddrescue when my hard drive was damaged.
Efficient Terminal Use, But Lacks Software Support
What do you like best about the product?
I mostly use the Ubuntu Terminal for educational purposes. I find it to be really good and fast for managing files and their permissions. It's the Terminal that I really like using for everyday tasks. The Terminal allows me to make changes to the filesystem of my computer in a programmatic manner that is much faster than using the GUI.
What do you dislike about the product?
I mostly dislike the lack of software support. Although things are improving, Windows is still far ahead compared to Ubuntu. I wish software like Microsoft Office and Adobe were available on Ubuntu. Also, the overall GUI is something I haven't been able to appreciate much. I wish the overall themes were a bit lighter, livelier, and perhaps a bit more animated, like MacOS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu for learning Bash scripting and find it really good for managing files and permissions quickly through the Terminal.

I like the UI of Ubuntu; it's clean and very attractive. Ubuntu runs smoothly even on mid-range or older hardware, which is great if you're using laptops without dedicated graphics. Most people switch to Ubuntu because of its smooth interface. The step-by-step graphical installer is clear and well explained. Ubuntu offers automatic options that can partition the disk, install alongside Windows (dual boot), and configure networking and drivers.

Major version upgrades sometimes break extensions or drivers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu helps me a lot with my AI firewall research as a defender firewall. It runs smoothly on mid-range or older hardware and has a clean and attractive UI. The step-by-step graphical installer makes setup easy.

I love Ubuntu’s stability, strong security, and wide software support, which makes it easy to focus on work rather than system maintenance. The large community and frequent updates help ensure tools and issues are well supported. I find Ubuntu dependable and user-friendly while still being powerful under the hood. It runs smoothly even on modest hardware, with consistent updates that aren't disruptive. The built-in security features make me confident using it daily. The huge software repository and community support are amazing, as there's usually a quick solution available when needed. I appreciate that Ubuntu strikes a great balance between simplicity and flexibility, making it work well for both everyday use and technical tasks like development or system administration. Setting it up was simple and stress-free, with the installer guiding me smoothly through each step, making my first experience very positive.

While I really like Ubuntu, there are a few areas that could be better. Some hardware especially newer graphics cards, Wi-Fi adapters, or printers can still require extra manual setup, which isn’t always beginner-friendly. Major version upgrades can occasionally introduce small bugs or break custom settings, and certain proprietary software or games don’t run as smoothly compared to other operating systems. The default desktop customization options also feel a bit limited unless you install additional tools, so improving out-of-the-box flexibility and hardware compatibility would make the experience even better. From my experience, Ubuntu would feel much smoother if newer graphics cards just worked perfectly right after installation. Dealing with proprietary drivers, especially for NVIDIA, can sometimes feel like trial and error.

Ubuntu is one of the most popular and user friendly linux distributions and there are several reasons why I appreciate it. The user interface is clean, intuitive and beginner friendly ideal for users transitioning from windows or mac os.
Most common tasks (software installation, updates, system settings) are straightforward and don't require deep command line knowledge.
Friendly installer with guided partitioning and hardware detection. Preconfigured drivers for many devices help the system work well out of the box.

The default GNOME desktop can feel heavy on older or low spec hardware. Compared to lighter desktop environments, Ubuntu may consume more RAM and CPU.

It’s great for coding, running servers, using developer tools, managing cloud and DevOps tasks, and doing secure daily work like browsing, documentation, and scripting thanks to its stability and strong community support. Ubuntu solves problems for me related to cost, stability, security, and performance by providing a free and reliable operating system with regular updates, strong security features, and smooth performance on both old and new hardware, while also offering an excellent environment for development, everyday work, and server use. What I like most about Ubuntu is its stability, strong security, ease of use, and powerful support for development—plus it’s free, customizable, and backed by a large community. With Ubuntu, what works especially well is the smooth GNOME interface, fast package management via APT and Snap, excellent hardware and driver support, and a huge community that makes troubleshooting and learning very easy. I find Ubuntu more development-friendly than Windows because it has a powerful native terminal, simple package management, better support for open source tools, and a Linux environment that closely matches production servers, making development and deployment easier. The initial setup of Ubuntu was very easy; installation was straightforward, hardware was detected automatically, and the system was ready to use within minutes. I would rate my likelihood of recommending Ubuntu as 9/10 due to its stability, security, ease of use, and strong support for development and everyday tasks.
