Handy & versatile system for better retail images
What do you like best about the product?
Recommendations to manage bandwith, transformations per image & traffic, thus giving tools to optimize spending
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found a plugin for archiving images to a slow storage in Azure. AWS is supported.

Handling thousands of product images - transforming them automatically on the backend, thus improving our images

Perfect solution for Image and Video hosting, processing and more!
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to get started using Cloudinary; then, from there, it's fantastic to find all the features that improve the image/video pipeline in your app. After having used it for 5+ years, I can't imagine anyone not leveraging Cloudinary!
What do you dislike about the product?
There are few downsides, if any. It requires a bit of a different design process to upload and manage image/video assets, but once started, it's hard to stop.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For a long time, we managed our own images. Hosting them on our servers, using 3rd party tools to crop, compress, and convert them. These other tools (such as ImageMagick) were great when they worked, but our dev team found themselves troubleshooting odd colorspace issues and having to add additional tools to compress images further. Then yet another tool to handle cropping.
Once we started adding videos, the complexity got unbearable.
Cloudinary in its simplest use case is a CDN, providing better and faster access to users around the world. Just as an easy-to-use CDN, it's worthwhile. Then being able to process images and videos is incredible. Simple transformations such as resizing and cropping is easy. The wide range of processing that is provided is useful for any use case we've been able to throw at it.
More recently, with the increased use of video throughout all industries, processing video with some simple API or URL commands is nothing short of incredible. It was a game-changer for our team with close to zero effort.
Once we started adding videos, the complexity got unbearable.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get started using Cloudinary as soon as you can. The hardest part of our transition was transitioning existing assets - which Cloudinary does make easy, but always takes time.
Also, take advantage of their support. Tech support is always constructive and quick to provide high-quality responses.

Configuring Cloudinary can be a bit difficult to figure out sometimes.

It can be quite intimidating because it has a large number of functions to exploit all its potentialities, and the fact that all the options have to be configured separately turns out to be quite cumbersome to start using it, so to begin To use it it is necessary to make individual configurations of each module separately, I think it might be a better option if a single general configuration is made for all tasks.

It has been helping me to manage my designs in a much easier way, by allowing me to save them in Cloudinary, without having to have the files on my computer, which was a big headache due to the large number of designs that I do, which led me to have my hard drive full of files and without space for new programs or applications, so for me it was necessary to be able to have a safe place that would allow me to store my files without any problem, so Cloudinary It has been a great help to me to carry out this type of task.

The price is a bit higher than the other competitors despite it actually worths it.
Apart from that, I must add that it has a lot of functionalities so, sometimes it might be hard to use for some people that never used this application.

We were able to manage the bank of images and set automatically tags to them to be able to use again them in different products.
It allowed us to store all the product images in the cloud, creating a backup for every region and keeping us safe in case of disaster.
In addition, we were able to create a robust system with nearly perfect content management and increasing the image delivery to the front end interface.

I will highly recommend this tool because after doing a benchmark, even the price is a bit higher than other competitors, the functionalities that it provides really worths it. Give it a time to get used to the application.
Very easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
This repository is key for all of our digital assets. The folder structures and auto transformations makes it a necessity for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the plans and wish they were more customizable (we need more bandwidth, for example, but less transformations).

Hosting all of our digital assets on this site in one place helps us to keep track of them and transform them at will.
