Flexible, User-Friendly, and Customizable Cloud ERP Experience with Acumatica
What do you like best about the product?
What I really like about Acumatica is how flexible and user-friendly the system is. Once you get used to the screens, it’s pretty easy to navigate between different modules like Projects, Distribution, and Production. The dashboards and filters make it simple to track what’s happening in real time without switching between multiple reports. I also like that most of the processes can be customized to match our business flow without needing heavy coding. The cloud access is another big plus — I can log in from anywhere and continue my work seamlessly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the system can feel a bit slow, especially when working with large data or multiple tabs open. A few screens have too many fields, which makes them slightly cluttered for day-to-day users. Also, certain setups and customizations require deep understanding of the backend or help from the support team — it’s not always straightforward for regular users. I wish some reports and dashboards were more plug-and-play instead of needing manual configuration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Acumatica has really helped us streamline multiple processes that used to be scattered across different tools. For example, tracking project costs, managing production orders, and handling inventory used to take a lot of manual effort and cross-checking. With Acumatica, most of this happens in one place, so I spend less time reconciling data and more time on actual decision-making. It also gives real-time visibility into our operations, which helps me catch issues early and keeps the team more coordinated. Overall, it’s saving time, reducing errors, and making daily work much smoother.

I like the ease of reconciling the bank statements the best.

I dislike that purchase orders do not meet our needs.

Four Years In—and Still Impressed
What do you like best about the product?
I find Acumatica to be exceptionally intuitive. When I joined a new company with minimal training, I was able to teach myself how to navigate and use the system with ease. Unlike many other programs that come with frustrating quirks and steep learning curves, Acumatica runs smoothly and efficiently, offering a user-friendly interface that makes adoption straightforward.
The platform is robust and feature-rich. Even after four years of daily use, I’m still discovering new modules and capabilities. In my 20-year accounting career, Acumatica stands out as one of the best—if not the best—software solutions I’ve worked with.

What do you dislike about the product?
The only module I’ve found to be somewhat less intuitive is the Inventory module. While I don’t use it daily in my role, I’ve noticed it can be a bit tricky to navigate at times. That said, it still performs reliably and offers solid functionality. I’m confident that with a bit more hands-on experience, I’ll be able to master it fully.

Acumatica addresses a wide range of business challenges, but one standout feature is its ability to manage multiple companies and their respective branches with seamless integration. Whether you need these entities to operate in sync or remain entirely independent, Acumatica handles both scenarios effortlessly

What do you like best about the product?
User friendly and up to date. Constant improvements by receiving insights from customers and partners. Fit for most businesses and can be customised to suite your needs.

With some modules you need two to be added to your profile to get the one solution needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Acumatica has significantly enhanced our operational efficiency through its robust automation capabilities. In certain segments of our business, we rely on third-party suppliers integrated directly into our system. In other areas, Acumatica serves as our core distribution platform. What truly sets Acumatica apart is its versatility—being able to adapt and support both external integrations and internal processes seamlessly. This flexibility enables a more streamlined workflow across departments, reducing manual effort and improving overall productivity.
Modern ERP software written from the ground up to run in the cloud.
What do you like best about the product?
I have used many small accounting and larger ERP systems. None work like Acumatica. When I said this system was written to run in the cloud - I really mean it. You can tell the company worked hard with industry experts to plan, design, and then program a software solution. This is not legacy software attempting to run in the cloud.
You can import and export from any system screen. Most common user screens have the ability with one click like sales order but for power users you can easily hit any screen/table you want.
I required very fancy customer discounts. This was the only system that could handle it.
I have over 100k SKUs and 50k bins. The system didn't complain. No user screens started to choke either.

What do you dislike about the product?
I originally purchased a perpetual license many years ago. Unfortunately, those are no longer offered. My annual maintenance price has not changed each year which was a pleasant surprise. This year I was forced to upgrade to the latest version or I would get penalized 25% each month. It was in the middle of our busy season and nobody wanted to go through a major upgrade that could cause issues. I can understand support not wanting to help if we are on an old version but to force us to upgrade or fine us harshly is just down right abuse from a vendor. If that practice doesn't stop then I can see people leaving.
Don't try hosting this software on a virtual server. It will not perform well. Make sure you get a dedicated server. Also don't use the MySQL database. The only one that works is the MSSQL.

It has saved many labor hours. We actually cut back on staffing.
A mid weight ERP
What do you like best about the product?
API functionality is great. Can easily stand up endpoints to power other platforms and user needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Security is extreme. Don't plan on using any of the dashboards with external users. We are a corner case user in Cannabis and the software is still being customized to meet our needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Going to market as a cannabis distributor quickly vs building our own custom tech in house.
Issues with real time project revenue recognition specifically for labor

What do you dislike about the product?
Two main issues:
1) We use the percent of complete method for project revenue recognition. Acumatica does not recognize revenue that is attributed to labor hours (professional services) in real time. Using a schedule to do so at an elected frequency is not ideal as financials are therefore not always up to date. Furthermore, Acumatica is not bound by the dollar limits of the actual project and will over-recognize revenue if actual costs exceed budgeted amounts, requiring manual intervention via journal entries to claw-back the excess revenue. This leads to overstated financials unless and until you review each open project to confirm excess revenue has not been recognized.
2)Ease with customizing reports and general inquiries is sorely needed. This especially comes into play if the fields you wish to include are not part of the standard report. You cannot filter on a field if it is not an option to begin with. Havin the ability to easily add fields that already exist in Acumatica to canned reports or GI's would greatly improve data analysis.
One minor issue only because it is needed once annually: 1099 reporting. Would be ideal to be able to print and file 1099s directly from Acumatica as well as the 1096. Electronic filing of your 1096 is now required for filers with more than 10 1099's. We currently have to use an outside software program to do this.
