The Automotive Data Transformer (ADT) is a powerful cloud-based SaaS tool designed to help data engineers and cloud architects process large amounts of vehicle data very quickly. It supports the storage-efficient and widely used Automotive Measurement Data Format (MDF) and seamlessly integrates with AWS cloud services like AWS S3. With simple API requests, also Automotive inexperienced users can extract metadata and convert signal data to Parquet, JSON and CSV securely and reliably. Whether it's analyzing or simulating vehicle data or improving machine learning models for autonomous vehicles, ADT makes it easier for automotive companies to unlock insights from their valuable data and simultaneously frees capacity from continuous maintenance and support efforts. FREE TRIAL TESTING - The free trial is limited to 7 days or max. 5.000 min computation time per account and lifetime - whatever is reached before. This equals to the full extraction of estimated 20 GB of MF4 files. Afterwards usage is directly disabled. To continue a new paid subscription has to be started.

What is our primary use case?
During my internship at a company providing automation tools and database platforms for Eicher automobiles, I worked on a project integrating Bosch Automotive Data Transformer for automation and testing. Eicher automobiles is an Indian manufacturer of tractors, trucks, cars, and motorbikes. The project involved using Bosch Automotive Data Transformer to capture vehicle details and monitor vehicle status. Several parts were covered by Bosch Automotive Data Transformer during my internship period, including radar, GPS, steering angle, vehicle wheel alignment, and RPM.
What is most valuable?
The biggest advantage of Bosch Automotive Data Transformer is that it provides the necessary information about vehicles for security and health purposes. When testing vehicles in the production line or when users deploy vehicles in the garage, engineers can obtain better information through the tool. Bosch Automotive Data Transformer extracts data from the vehicle's motherboard and provides necessary data to the garage manager, enabling proper repairs or helping manufacturers produce more efficient products.
What needs improvement?
Bosch Automotive Data Transformer is not ETL friendly. Most of the integration of this tool is AWS-centric, so if we are using Google Workspaces, we have to purchase AWS subscriptions as well. Additionally, for data generation, it only supports MDF file formats, so we need to use a converter and a specific Bosch Automotive Data Transformer feature to convert to the desired JSON format.
The installation process is quite IoT friendly, but I would say it is not so simple. Bosch Automotive Data Transformer provides many features around the APIs and integrates easily across service providers and vehicle projects. It is not overly complex, but it is not beginner-friendly.
For how long have I used the solution?
I started using Bosch Automotive Data Transformer around two years back.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Bosch Automotive Data Transformer is quite stable, with a stability rate around 99%. It builds its environment around a few features and services, and it works well with them, such as AWS Cloud and pipelines. The integration functions effectively due to the closed nature of its environment.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Bosch Automotive Data Transformer is highly scalable since it provides several services to connect with multiple software solutions, making it quite scalable.
What about the implementation team?
I implemented the interoperability feature with IT infrastructure, but I have not used the tool extensively. For the implementation purpose, I only used it sparingly.
What was our ROI?
I can approximately quantify that it saves around 20 to 30% of time and money, as it provides useful data from the ESP of the vehicles and improves the efficiency of the working methods of the organization.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Regarding the price, I believe it is only available on the AWS marketplace. I do not have detailed information because the third-party company has purchased it, and I have not looked into the pricing of this product as it falls outside my scope.
What other advice do I have?
Regarding real-time data processing, when the system generates data, mechanical sensors generate it in raw form. Bosch Automotive Data Transformer converts the data into a human-readable or machine-readable form, such as converting MF, NDF, and MDF files to CSV or JSON files. These converted signals are used for computer-readable and usable formats.
Bosch Automotive Data Transformer helps identify data patterns as it tracks individual patterns regarding the vehicle's behavior over certain time periods or in certain scenarios, such as engine backfiring or incorrect wheel alignment. These issues are automatically detected through the data, and if something is missing, the system automatically notifies the user that something is wrong with the vehicle.
I would agree that the solution is worth buying, especially for customers with large vehicle facilities, as it is very helpful for users. I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.

What is our primary use case?
Bosch Automotive Data Transformer serves as a connected data transformation connectivity platform, primarily used for AI agents connectivity, BI analytics for data visualization, and workflow automations with embedded connectivities.
In one of our projects, we utilized Bosch Automotive Data Transformer for data visualization and BI analytics, especially with its real-time dashboard, tabular Power BI, and Excel by querying live data from CRM and ERP without any extraction. Additionally, we provided a logical data layer to reduce data movement and warehouse costs.
What is most valuable?
Bosch Automotive Data Transformer offers workflow automation, which has helped us significantly, especially when we have multiple databases across various regions. The no-code interface allows us to trigger automations efficiently.
The no-code interface for workflow automation has made things easier for our team, as we sync multiple systems and previously used triggers to update resources. We now use workflows for automation to sync resources with multiple divisions.
Bosch Automotive Data Transformer has positively impacted our organization. We have noticed improvements such as having over 360 pre-built connectors to connect virtually any enterprise-level system without data replication, which significantly helps us manage data effectively.
What needs improvement?
Bosch Automotive Data Transformer demonstrates good improvement overall, although the pricing is somewhat high at around $80 to $100 per month, but it still manages data and systems quite effectively.
I chose a rating of nine for Bosch Automotive Data Transformer due to its overall quality. While automation tools are available and it functions as an enterprise-level system, every system requires improvement, which is why I deducted one point.

We have utilized Bosch Automotive Data Transformer for approximately six to seven years and six to seven months in one of our projects.

My experience with Bosch Automotive Data Transformer's pricing, setup cost, and licensing reveals that while setup is not very user-friendly and licensing is required, the high pricing is reasonable for an enterprise-level system.
What other advice do I have?
Regarding Bosch Automotive Data Transformer's governance and security, I find it quite satisfactory, as it has per-user authentication with SSO and Auth, row and column-level access control, along with full audit trails for every query, covering GDPR and HIPAA requirements.
The AI capabilities of Bosch Automotive Data Transformer are very good and meet expectations. It requires making ETL pipelines and includes pre-built connectors, as well as semantic intelligence which allows for creating data pipelines without brute API calls.
For those looking into using Bosch Automotive Data Transformer, I advise that it requires considerable experience, as it is not beginner-friendly. Having knowledge about ETL and distributed systems is essential.
