The software itself is free. You pay only the hourly rate tied to the arm64 EC2 instance you run it on. Every dimension maps to one instance type, so pricing scales with the compute you choose. Options span general-purpose (m-series, t4g, a1), compute-optimized (c-series), memory-optimized (r-series, x-series), storage-dense (i-series, is4gen), high-performance computing (hpc7g), and graphics (g5g) families. Within each family, sizes run from small (medium, large) to large bare-metal configurations. Larger instances cost more per hour. Pick the family and size that fit your workload; the operating system adds no license fee.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each pricing line maps to one arm64 EC2 instance type. One unit is one running instance of the size you select, billed per hour. The operating system itself carries no license fee, so the hourly charge reflects the AWS compute you run it on.
The hourly rate meters running instance-hours. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue this charge. You may still pay underlying AWS fees, such as attached storage, while an instance is stopped. The operating system adds no license fee in any state.
Yes. Each instance type is its own pricing line, so your hourly rate follows the size and family you launch. Larger instances bill more per hour. Switching sizes is a manual choice you make when you launch or resize, not an automatic tier upgrade.
