You pay by the hour for NGINX Plus Developer running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, and your hourly rate depends on which instance you launch. Options span small burstable instances like t3.nano and t2.small, general-purpose types like m7a.medium and m3.medium, compute-optimized c7a.medium, and memory-optimized r7a.medium. The software runs the same across all instances. Your cost scales with the size and family of the instance you choose. You add EC2 infrastructure charges separately.

What does one hourly unit map to for billing?
Each dimension corresponds to a specific EC2 instance type. One unit is one running instance of that type, billed per hour. For example, launching a t3.medium instance meters t3.medium software hours. You choose the instance family and size that fits your workload, and that selection sets your rate.
Am I charged the software fee when my instance is stopped?
Software charges accrue per running instance-hour. When you fully stop an instance, the hourly software fee stops too. Underlying AWS storage or other resources tied to a stopped instance may still bill separately. The software meters running time only.
What software runs on these instances, and does it differ by instance type?
Each instance runs NGINX Plus Developer on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. The software is the same across all instance types, including load balancing, reverse proxy, API gateway, and content caching. Only the underlying compute changes. Larger or specialized instances give more CPU or memory, not extra software features.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
When a new AMI is deployed for the first time, the latest version of NGINX Plus will be installed, auto-configured and started. NGINX Plus status can then be checked by running: service nginx status, and the NGINX Plus default index page will be accessible on public EC2 instance address. Please use SSH to access your instance for management purposes with the following usernames, for Ubuntu: "ubuntu", CentOS: "centos", Amazon Linux/RHEL: "ec2-user", Debian: "admin". NGINX Plus configuration can be found in /etc/nginx and the documentation is available at https://docs.nginx.com/nginx/.
