Highlights
PostgreSQL is an advanced, enterprise-class, and open-source relational database system. PostgreSQL supports both SQL (relational) and JSON (non-relational) querying. Included in this solution also comes pgAdmin, web-based management tool for PostgreSQL.
PostgreSQL can run dynamic websites and web apps as a LAMP stack option. PostgreSQL's write-ahead logging makes it a highly fault-tolerant database.
PostgreSQL works well with BI applications. Works well for Data Warehousing and data analysis applications which need fast read-write speeds.

Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you choose to run this PostgreSQL Server with pgAdmin Web image. Pricing is not tiered by features — every instance includes the same software. Instead, your hourly rate scales with the compute size you pick. Options range from small general-purpose instances like t3.nano and t2.micro to large compute-, memory-, and storage-optimized types such as c5.24xlarge, r5.24xlarge, and i3en.metal, plus GPU and inference families like g4dn and inf1. Pick the size matching your workload; larger instances cost more per hour. AWS infrastructure charges apply separately.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get for the hourly rate on each instance type?
Each hourly rate covers the same software: a PostgreSQL database server with the pgAdmin web management tool preinstalled on Ubuntu 24.04, plus vendor support. The instance type you pick sets the compute, memory, and storage capacity of the server that runs it. Larger instances give more resources at a higher hourly rate.
Am I charged the hourly software fee when the instance is stopped?
The software fee meters running time. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS charges, such as attached storage, may still apply while the instance is stopped. You are billed the software rate only for the hours the instance runs.
Does my hourly cost change if my database or user count grows?
The hourly rate is tied to the instance type, not to database size, number of databases, or connected users. Adding databases or users does not change the rate by itself. If growth requires more compute, you move to a larger instance type, which carries a higher hourly rate.
