Moving beyond legacy BIOS, this image utilizes a modern UEFI + GPT partitioning scheme, ensuring superior boot efficiency and compatibility with the latest AWS instance types.
To maximize your productivity, we have pre-consolidated all critical system patches, eliminating the hours typically spent on Windows Updates after launch.

Usage & Configuration Notes
- Activation: Based on the Datacenter Edition. The system typically activates automatically via AWS KMS. If manual activation is needed, please run slmgr /ato.
- Network: Firewall is pre-configured to allow RDP, WinRM, File/Printer Sharing, and standard ports (80, 443, 123).
- Timezone: System time is set to UTC by default.
- Services: Certain non-essential services are set to "Manual" or "Disabled" to enhance performance. Please review your application dependencies if specific legacy features are required.

Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for Windows Server 2025 Chinese (zh_CN), billed only for the time each instance runs. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, such as t3.large, m6i.4xlarge, or r8i.metal-96xl. Your hourly rate depends on the instance you choose. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, storage, or GPU capacity carry higher hourly rates. This lets you match the rate to your workload size. You can run general-purpose, compute, memory, storage, or accelerated instances under the same usage-based model.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick, billed per hour. The rate bundles the operating system software with the chosen instance size. You are charged for each active instance-hour, and the meter follows the instance you launch, not the number of users.
The software rate meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply while the instance is stopped, but that is separate from this listing's usage charge.
The AMI defaults to Chinese, but you can switch it to English during first boot. Enter a PowerShell script in the User data field of the launch wizard. This adds an extra reboot, so the initial startup takes slightly longer. Pricing does not change.

Remote Desktop Connection
What to expect
- First boot time: the instance may take 5-10 minutes to finish initialization before RDP is available.
- How to connect: use Windows Remote Desktop (mstsc) or another RDP client, open the .rdp file from the EC2 console, and sign in with the Administrator account and the decrypted password.
- Security: ensure the instance security group allows RDP (TCP 3389) or use a secure bastion/jump host. Use the EC2 console to decrypt the initial Administrator password.

When to use
- Use Session Manager when you prefer not to open RDP to the internet or when you need command-line/PowerShell access from the AWS console or CLI.

Start the Instance in English Using User Data
Purpose and impact
- To change the OS language to English (en-US) at first boot, provide a PowerShell script as user data when launching the instance. This change triggers an additional system restart and increases initialization time.
