This is the GPU Edition, using NVIDIA NVENC/NVDEC to transcode H.264 and HEVC in hardware. It is best when transcoding density, HEVC output, or CPU offload is your priority. You pay by the hour for each running instance of this GPU-based streaming server. Every dimension maps to a specific AWS GPU instance type, so your rate depends on the instance you choose. Larger instances with more GPU and compute capacity carry higher hourly rates. You can scale by launching more instances or picking a bigger size to handle more streaming load. Billing is usage-based, with no per-viewer fees and no channel limits. A 14-day free trial applies before hourly charges begin. Each running instance requires its own license, activated automatically through the Marketplace launch.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one instance for hourly billing?
An instance is a single running process of the streaming server on one AWS GPU machine. Each running machine you launch counts separately and carries its own hourly rate. If you run three machines, you pay three hourly rates at once. Each running instance activates its own license through the Marketplace launch.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or powered off?
Hourly software charges apply only while an instance runs. Fully stopped instances do not accrue software charges. Stopped or hibernated machines may still incur underlying AWS storage fees, but the streaming server meters running time only. To stop charges, shut down instances you are not using.
How do I decide between a larger instance and running more instances?
Both raise your total hourly cost. A larger instance type gives one machine more GPU and compute capacity for heavier streaming loads. Running more instances spreads load across separate machines, each billed at its own hourly rate. Your workload pattern and delivery architecture guide which approach fits.
