What software comes bundled in this hourly AMI, and what does one instance-hour include?
One instance-hour runs the full stack: the Windows operating system, a web application server, an HTML server, an integration server, the database, the enterprise server, and the deployment server. You pay the hourly rate for the running instance, with the base software already deployed and no hardware to install.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off, for example during off-hours?
Software charges meter running time, so they stop accruing when the instance is not running. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes. There is no long-term contract, so you pay only for the hours the instance actually runs.
How do I choose between the burstable t3/t3a families and the general-purpose m-series instances?
Burstable t3 and t3a instances suit lighter or intermittent workloads where usage varies. The m5, m5a, m6i, and m6a families provide steady compute for continuous demand. All bill per hour; larger sizes within a family cost more per hour and give more capacity.
