AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, from small burstable types like t3.micro up to large memory, compute, GPU, and bare-metal options such as x1e.32xlarge and u-24tb1.metal. The hourly software rate scales with the instance you choose, so larger instances cost more per hour. There are no upfront commitments or fixed terms. You select the instance that matches your MySQL and MariaDB workload, and billing follows actual runtime hours.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one billed unit represent for each dimension?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the named type, metered per hour. For example, one m5.large maps to a single m5.large instance you run. You are billed for each instance you launch, based on that instance type's hourly software rate.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software rate meters running hours only. Fully stopped instances do not accrue software charges. You pay for the hours each instance is actually running. Note that underlying AWS storage and other AWS resources may still bill separately while an instance is stopped.
If my database workload grows and I add instances, how does my bill change?
Cost scales with the number of running instances and their types. Each added instance bills at its own hourly rate. Larger instance types carry higher hourly rates. If you scale reader nodes horizontally to handle more load, each running node adds to your total hourly charge.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
