Smaller shared-core instances like c7a.medium, t3a.medium, and t2.large suit lighter workloads. Mid-range options include the m3, m4, and t3 families in various sizes. Larger instances such as m4.10xlarge and m4.16xlarge handle heavier demand. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, and this hourly rate covers the software and its bundled support.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate covers the Apache Guacamole software, its bundled support, and the compute time on the chosen EC2 instance. Support includes a 30-minute response target and 24/7 availability. You still pay separate AWS infrastructure charges, such as storage, outside this software rate.
Software charges accrue per hour only while the instance runs. A stopped or paused instance does not incur the hourly software rate. Underlying AWS storage fees may still apply while the instance exists, but the software meter counts running time only.
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, so you pick based on needed compute. Shared-core types like c7a.medium or t3a.medium fit lighter remote-access sessions. The m3, m4, and larger m4.16xlarge sizes suit more concurrent users or heavier session recording and multi-protocol traffic.

Usage instructions
Our basic recomendation is to use provided security rules at least for deployment phase until successful app access. After deployment, you can access your application at http://<public IP>. (It might take up to 15 minutes to be available post-deployment). Default credentials should be username admin and password is your instance's InstanceID. If creds are not valid, check login greetings of VM. The machine should be accessible via SSH, default username: ubuntu. App login credentials (and additional app-related details) are available on message of the day (and /etc/motd).
