Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for each running instance, with no upfront commitment. The 16 options map to different Amazon EC2 instance types, so your rate depends on the compute size you choose. Smaller micro and small instances (like t1.micro, t2.micro, t3.micro, t2.small, t3.small, t3a.micro, t3a.small) carry lower hourly rates. Medium instances span general-purpose, compute-optimized, and memory-optimized families (m-, c-, and r-series, plus t3.medium and m3.medium). Pricing scales with the instance you select, and hourly charges stop when you stop the instance. This is the Developer edition of the software.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick, billed per hour. The instance runs NGINX Plus with the F5 WAF and DoS protection module. This Developer edition bundles the web server, reverse proxy, load balancer, and layer 7 application firewall together on that single instance.
The software charge meters running time only, so hourly billing stops when you stop the instance. You are not charged software fees while the instance is stopped. Underlying AWS resources, such as attached storage, may still incur separate AWS fees even when the instance is not running.
Yes. Each instance type is a separate dimension with its own hourly rate. If you launch on a larger compute, memory, or general-purpose instance, your rate matches that type. Switching means launching on the new type; billing then follows the rate for whichever instance is running.

Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. Usage instructions
When a new AMI is deployed for the first time, the latest version of NGINX Plus will be installed, auto-configured and started. NGINX Plus status can then be checked by running: service nginx status, and the NGINX Plus default index page will be accessible on public EC2 instance address. Please use SSH to access your instance for management purposes with the following usernames, for Ubuntu: "ubuntu", CentOS: "centos", Amazon Linux/RHEL: "ec2-user", Debian: "admin". NGINX Plus configuration can be found in /etc/nginx and the documentation is available at https://docs.nginx.com/nginx/ .
