Reliable ad insertion has enabled robust ABR workflows and consistent stream handling

    Reviewed on Jun 14, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for TITAN Live HD  involves integration labs where we get our source stream from the DCM, CINEMEDIA DCM, and bring them into TITAN Live, which produces the ABR output for our setup boxes and OTT platform. Since we were doing ad insertion, it was crucial that, first, the SCTE PID was processed correctly. Second, TITAN Live HD  for the SCTE track interfaces with the POIS, placement opportunity insertion service, so that the incoming SCTE-35 message would be translated, changed, and then reinserted with the changed version on TITAN Live HD.

Regarding my main use case and experience with TITAN Live HD in those integration labs, I find it as a product that delivers what it promises, and I am a happy user.

    What is most valuable?

In my opinion, the best features that TITAN Live HD offers include delivering promised actions or features, being fairly robust, and not having any big issues that I can remember. Even if we had some issues, I recall we could get quick support.

What makes TITAN Live HD feel robust to me is that we never had unexpected crashes or unexplained situations. If something went wrong, there was a good explanation, whether it was a misconfiguration or a genuine bug in the system, which was rare, making me consider TITAN Live HD a robust product.

While not unique, TITAN Live HD allows you to configure access types, meaning some people can be read-only, while others would have full admin control.

TITAN Live HD positively impacts my organization by being a product that delivers what it promises, integrating easily with our in-house developed POIS server without having big issues.

    What needs improvement?

Regarding how TITAN Live HD can be improved, what I find limiting is that we run it on blade servers, each housing a TITAN Live HD instance that cannot handle too many channels; sometimes we are limited to four channels per blade per instance, and I understand that transcoding, especially ABR transcoding, is hard to achieve.

On the topic of needed improvements around scalability or hardware compatibility, if we had our own servers and could implement some GPUs specifically for video processing and transcoding, it would be beneficial. Even on my laptop with an NVIDIA card, I can transcode videos much faster. Having TITAN Live HD in a custom server with GPUs would allow for much faster transcoding, which is my first wish.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    TITAN Live HD is stable.

I find working with TITAN Live HD for ad insertion and SCTE message handling enjoyable as the web interface is intuitive and feels natural to find what I am looking for. Overall, I have a good experience.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

TITAN Live HD's scalability is noteworthy as it can run redundant with two encoders and two TITAN Live HD instances working in sync to provide a master backup configuration. I know it works since we had far too many instances, so I know it is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

Regarding customer support, I would say it is good since we got quick turnarounds for our issues.

What other advice do I have?

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate customer support an eight since I did not directly get in touch with TITAN Live HD support right away, but I know we always had good outcomes.

To others looking into using TITAN Live HD, my advice would be to either get a good guide to explain the features or read proper documentation to fully understand the exact feature set.

I have expressed all my additional thoughts about TITAN Live HD.

I find the interview fine, but it seemed as though some questions are repetitive. Other than that, it is a good interview.

I would rate this review a ten out of ten.
