Check Point WAF as a Service (WAFaaS) for AWS simplifies web application security by eliminating the complexity of traditional WAF solutions. Easily deployable via AWS Marketplace, it provides automated API discovery, schema validation, and real-time security updates to minimize misconfigurations and unauthorized data exposure.

Designed for cloud-native agility, Check Point WAFaaS integrates directly with AWS CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) frameworks such as AWS CloudFormation and Terraform. This allows security teams to embed protection into their AWS development workflows without slowing down innovation. It prevents cyber threats, including zero-day attacks, OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, bot-driven exploits, and large-scale DDoS attacks, ensuring uninterrupted service availability and security compliance.

Check Point WAFaaS delivers a non-agent WAF that can be deployed in less than 15 minutes. Traffic is effortlessly routed through Check Point servers, which automatically issue SSL certificates. Upon redirection, any HTTP requests are intercepted for inspection and forwarded to the application only after validating their security.

Check Point WAFaaS is available in premium and advanced packages (Advanced package does not include API Discovery and Zero-day file security).

ADVANCED PACKAGE: The Advanced package provides core protection features, including:

    • AI-based zero-day prevention: Detects and blocks unknown threats before they exploit vulnerabilities.

    • Includes 6 months of full logs retention (based on the fair usage policy).

    Highlights

    • ZERO-DAY PREVENTION: Check Point WAFaaS has demonstrated prevention of zero-day exploits across a wide spectrum of security events, including log4shell, text4shell, and MOVEit, all in real-time.
    • DEPLOYED WITHIN MINUTES: Check Point WAFaaS delivers a non-agent Web application Firewall, deployable within minutes. Only a one-time DNS configuration is necessary for CloudGuard to start routing traffic securely to applications in the cloud.
    • PREVENT DDoS AND AUTOMATED ATTACKS: Check Point WAFaaS provides real-time detection and automatic mitigation protection against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and bot-driven assaults.

     Info

    Dimensions summary

You buy this WAF under a contract based on the number of web requests processed per month. Pricing splits into two service levels: Advanced and Premium. Within each level, you pick a monthly request capacity, offered in steps up to 10M, 20M, 30M, and 40M requests. As your traffic grows, you move to a higher request tier. Premium tiers add more capability than Advanced tiers at the same request volume. If none of these fixed tiers fit your needs, you can choose Custom Sizing to match your specific monthly request volume.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

Each incoming HTTP request that the WAF analyzes counts toward your monthly total. Every web or API call routed through the service is inspected by two AI engines. Your tier caps the number of these analyzed requests per month, so higher traffic volumes require a tier with more capacity.
Each tier caps the analyzed requests per month, in steps up to 10M, 20M, 30M, and 40M. If your traffic grows past your tier, you move to a higher request tier. If no fixed tier fits, Custom Sizing matches your specific monthly request volume.
Both levels bill on monthly request volume and use the same AI-based threat prevention for web apps and APIs. At the same request volume, Premium adds more capability than Advanced. You pick the service level first, then choose your monthly request capacity within it.

Powerful Security, But Difficult to Budget

    Reviewed on Aug 12, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The WAF from Check Point works very well. In the dashboard, I can see an overview of all the requests it has blocked, with specific logs and mainly the origin behind them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't find it very user-friendly and it requires more knowledge of underlying systems than I had expected. The high purchase price is a downside for me. Calculating capacity and additional options makes it difficult for me to budget effectively.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Check Point WAF to secure our domains, but it is sometimes not user-friendly and expensive. It offers good protection, shows blocked requests and their origin in a convenient dashboard.

Powerful WAF, but complex setup and reporting need simplification

    Reviewed on Aug 12, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Check Point WAF (formerly CloudGuard WAF) is how it combines strong security capabilities with a relatively straightforward management experience. The UI is clean and well organized, which makes it easier to monitor traffic, review security events, and manage policies without adding unnecessary complexity.

Its integration capabilities are another plus, especially when connecting the WAF to existing cloud environments and established security workflows. Performance has been reliable as well, providing solid protection without a noticeable impact on application responsiveness. From an ROI standpoint, centralized security management and the reduced effort needed for ongoing monitoring and policy administration make it a worthwhile investment for organizations that require consistent web application protection.

Onboarding and support have also been helpful, particularly when I’ve had configuration or troubleshooting questions. I also appreciate the intelligence built into the platform, which helps identify suspicious activity and potential threats more efficiently than relying entirely on manual analysis. Overall, it strikes a strong balance between security, usability, performance, and operational efficiency.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area that could be improved is the overall complexity of configuration and policy management. Although the interface is generally well organized, some advanced settings take time to understand, especially for new users or teams that aren’t already familiar with web application security concepts. Because of this learning curve, initial setup and troubleshooting can end up being more time-consuming than expected.

Pricing can also be a factor for smaller organizations, particularly when additional capabilities or higher levels of protection are needed. Reporting and analytics could be more intuitive as well; clearer insights and more streamlined dashboards would help users identify trends faster and prioritize security events more effectively. Overall, the product is powerful, but simplifying advanced workflows and making the platform feel more transparent and accessible would significantly improve the user experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Check Point WAF helps our organization tackle the challenge of protecting web applications and APIs from evolving security threats, while still keeping security management manageable for our teams. It provides greater visibility into application traffic and helps us identify and block malicious activity before it can affect our applications, users, or business operations.

From my perspective, one of the biggest advantages is the reduction in manual effort needed to monitor and respond to web application security issues. Centralized visibility and policy management make it easier for our security and IT teams to work together, investigate incidents, and maintain consistent protection across our environments.

At the organizational level, it also helps lower security risk, improve operational efficiency, and support broader security and compliance requirements. Rather than relying on multiple disconnected tools and manual processes, we can take a more structured approach to protecting our applications. This enables our teams to spend more time on strategic security initiatives, while still maintaining a strong level of protection for critical business services.

Strong Security, Centralized Visibility, and Seamless Check Point Ecosystem Integration

    Reviewed on Aug 10, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Check Point WAF (formerly CloudGuard WAF) is its strong balance of security, visibility, and ease of management. It provides effective protection against common web application threats while giving security teams centralized visibility and control. I also like that it integrates well with the broader Check Point security ecosystem, which can simplify monitoring and policy management for organizations already using Check Point products.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main thing I dislike about Check Point WAF (formerly CloudGuard WAF) is that it can feel complex to configure and manage, especially for teams that are new to the platform. Fine-tuning security policies and rules can require some time and expertise, and the overall cost can also be a consideration for smaller organizations. The user interface and documentation could be more intuitive in some areas to make troubleshooting and day-to-day administration easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Check Point WAF helps us protect our web applications and APIs from threats such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting, and other malicious traffic. It reduces the risk of application-level attacks while providing visibility into traffic and security events. This benefits us by improving our overall security posture, reducing the amount of manual monitoring required, and giving the team greater confidence that our internet-facing applications are protected without significantly impacting legitimate users.

    Reviewed on Aug 05, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like Check Point WAF's strong security capabilities combined with ease of management. The policy management is flexible, which is really helpful. Plus, the initial setup is relatively straightforward, making the transition smoother.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the initial deployment and policy tuning can take time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Check Point WAF to protect our public-facing application from cyber threats like SQL injections, XSS, and OWASP vulnerabilities. Its strong security capabilities and ease of management, like flexible policy management, are key benefits.

Secure filtering and application control have protected web workloads and simplified deployment

    Reviewed on Jul 29, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I have found features like Cisco ASA and Firepower most valuable. Secure Firewall is a secure firewall with features like WAF and web applications. We have web filtering applications, secure features, and application controls among other features.

    What is most valuable?

I have found features like Cisco ASA and Firepower most valuable. Secure Firewall is a secure firewall with features like WAF and web applications. We have web filtering applications, secure features, and application controls among other features. I am not using Cisco SecureX with Secure Firewall.

    What needs improvement?

Currently, I have no suggestions for Cisco Secure Firewall. I am not working on the next-generation firewall of Cisco. As I already mentioned, I have no suggestions regarding the features and improvements. I am not working on Cisco firewall currently.

For how long have I used the solution?

Overall, I have been working with Cisco Secure Firewall for almost three to four years.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate the technical support by Cisco a nine out of ten.

    How was the initial setup?

I think the implementation is easy. GUI-based implementation for firewalls is straightforward. Although the command line is a very simple process, next-generation firewalls now come with GUI-based interfaces.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In comparison to other vendors, the pricing is reasonable and affordable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I am currently using some Cisco products. I am currently using some switches of Cisco. I am working on the ASA series. I stopped working with Cisco Firewall more than one to two years ago. I am currently dealing mostly with other Cisco products. I am not dealing with Cisco Secure Access or Cisco Duo. I am working with different product vendors such as Check Point and Fortinet. I am working with Check Point Web Application Firewalls and using bundles with them. I am using some features such as WAF and UTP bundles with application controls, web filtering, email filtering, and DNS filtering and controls that are implemented with UTP enterprise bundles and other WAF applications. I have been dealing with Check Point for three to four years on different products. I am using other platforms and testing some things for the networks. I am also using some other products with them.

What other advice do I have?

I did not have new features or functionalities that I have used recently in Secure Firewall. Check Point WAF is used in my company and my customers are using it. I have seen measurable business and security outcomes since implementation of Check Point WAF (formerly CloudGuard WAF). All vendors design firewalls with application filtering. As per current incident reporting, we implement and update our feature updates and security databases. These databases are updated regularly. Check Point WAF (formerly CloudGuard WAF) works fine for every product like Cisco, Check Point, Fortinet, and Palo Alto. I am currently not using Check Point WAF as a primary solution, just for a specific purpose. Check Point WAF (formerly CloudGuard WAF) is working fine and reports, detects, and stops attacks such as IPS and detection. I would rate Check Point WAF (formerly CloudGuard WAF) a nine out of ten. The existing features are working fine, but new day-to-day attacks and issues arise in the environment globally, dealing with attacks such as phishing and DDoS attacks daily. Check Point WAF (formerly CloudGuard WAF) could improve by addressing the new day-to-day attacks and issues that arise in the environment and globally dealing with attacks. I have been satisfied with pricing, technical support, and performance. I am a customer of Check Point. I have been working in this field for several years. My overall review rating for this product is ten.
