You pay by the hour for a preconfigured Apache Tomcat 10 image running on Amazon Linux 2023. Pricing has one dimension: the EC2 instance type you choose to run the software. Each listed instance carries its own hourly software rate, so your cost scales with the compute size and family you select. Smaller shared-CPU instances (the t2, t3, and t3a families) suit lighter workloads, while the larger m-family instances (m4 through m7) offer more cores and memory for heavier use. You add AWS infrastructure charges separately. No upfront commitment applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get for the hourly rate on a given instance type?
You get a preconfigured Apache Tomcat 10 image running on Amazon Linux 2023. The instance type you pick sets your compute size — the vCPU count and memory. The hourly software rate maps to that chosen instance type. Larger instance types carry more cores and memory than smaller shared-CPU ones.
Am I charged the software rate when the instance is stopped?
The software charge meters running instance-hours. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software rate. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped. To stop all software charges, terminate or stop the instance.
Does the hourly software rate include the underlying AWS compute cost?
No. The hourly rate shown covers the Apache Tomcat 10 software image only. You pay AWS separately for the EC2 instance, storage, and data transfer. Both charges appear on your AWS bill. There is no upfront commitment, so you pay only for the hours you run.
