Overview
GitLab is a full-featured DevOps platform that can be used to manage all aspects from application development through build and deployment. The implementation of Git source code management (SCM) system is one of the main features among multiple features it offers out-of-the-box. GitLab has a community edition which is open-source and free, and a licensed enterprise edition that has extra features. This AMI contains the community edition. Kurian has released pre-configured software applications such as Wordpress, Jenkins, databases, LAMP stack, Ansible, DevOps tools, and monitoring applications that are widely used by system administrators and DevOps engineers. For selected Linux distributions hardened images based on CIS benchmark are also available. The Kurian AMIs are built following official installation steps so you do not need to learn any custom procedures if additional configurations need to be done.

Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you choose to run this GitLab Community Edition machine image. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific AWS instance size, from small general-purpose types up to large memory-, compute-, storage-, and GPU-optimized machines. Your hourly rate scales with the instance's capacity, so larger instances cost more per hour. Billing stops when you stop the instance. Each hourly unit covers one running EC2 instance of the type you select. That instance runs GitLab Community Edition, the open-source DevOps platform for Git source code management, CI/CD pipelines, build, and deployment. The same software runs on every instance type; only compute capacity differs.
Software charges accrue per hour while the instance runs. When you stop the instance, hourly software charges stop. A stopped instance may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for its attached volumes, but the software itself meters only running time.
Larger instances give you more capacity, not extra features. GitLab Community Edition is open-source, and this machine image contains the same edition across all instance types. You pay a higher hourly rate for larger instances because they provide more compute, memory, storage, or GPU resources.
