VoiceThread is a communications platform that transforms learning experiences by enabling students to connect with teachers and peers authentically, but without the anxiety-inducing experience of live online interaction found in zoom classes. In a VoiceThread discussion, the interpersonal interactions are just as warm as live sessions but are instead self-paced - giving students and teachers time for thoughtful reflection and practice.
VoiceThread has been awarded ESSA Level IV and Level III certification for its alignment with standards outlined by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and has a proven record of efficacy across a broad range of uses. There is likely no other EdTech tool with as broad a set of applications, nor as much third-party research conducted into efficacy.
The Active User License is an enterprise wide license that provides an unlimited number of user accounts for an entire university but bases your first-year cost on how many VoiceThread users you expect to use. You'll work with an account manager to find the correct first year entry level usage band and then at your renewal, we will use your first-year actual usage data (active users) to adjust your cost upwards or downwards for the following year. An active user is someone who comments, watches, or creates a VoiceThread.
Using this model means that you DO NOT have a cap on accounts within your license period. You can grow your VoiceThread community without worrying about incurring unbudgeted costs.

An active user is an account that engages with the platform, where students and instructors speak, annotate, and respond to shared content. Each tier caps how many such users the license covers. Accounts that never engage during the term do not consume your active user allowance.
Each tier sets a ceiling on active users. If you expect to pass your chosen limit, you move to a tier with a higher ceiling. The change is not automatic, so pick a tier that matches your expected active population before committing.
