AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you run this Windows Server 2022 image on. Pricing is not tiered by features; every instance runs the same software. Instead, the hourly rate scales with the instance size and family you choose. Options span general-purpose (t2, t3), compute-optimized (c3, c4, c5), memory-optimized (r3, r4, r5), storage-optimized (d2, d3), and GPU (g2, g3) families. Larger sizes within a family cost more per hour, and bare-metal options (c5.metal, r5.metal) sit at the high end. You only pay while instances run.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What software comes pre-installed on every instance type I choose?
Each instance runs Windows Server 2022 with recent security patches, plus pre-installed Google Chrome and Firefox browsers and the VSCode editor. The software is identical across all instance types. Your instance choice affects compute size and hourly rate, not the included applications.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Note that AWS may still bill underlying storage for a stopped instance, but that is separate from the software fee. You pay only while instances run.
Does a bare-metal option like c5.metal bill differently from a regular instance?
Both bill per hour under the same usage model. A bare-metal option runs on dedicated physical hardware rather than a shared host, which places it at the high end of hourly rates. The billing method is the same; only the per-hour rate differs by size and family.
