Apica Ascent is a product suite designed as a Telemetry Data Fabric, a modular architecture that separates the collection, transport, storage, and analysis of observability data (metrics, events, logs, and traces). Ascent is built on Kubernetes (K8s) for compute and Object Storage (S3 compatible) for data. Core components include:
FLOW (Telemetry Pipeline): Acts as the central nervous system, controlling data filtering and routing. Data can be ingested over 300 data sources. Rules are applied to filter, mask, redact, or enrich data in real-time.
LAKE (Data Storage): Powered by patented InstaStore technology, Lake allows Ascent to use Object Storage and scale without rehydration.
FLEET (Agent Management): It manages the lifecycle of distributed agents across hybrid environments (Linux, Windows, K8s).
OBSERVE (Analytics & Visualization): The UI for troubleshooting, monitoring, and root cause analysis, including a Data Explorer for AI-driven insights.
The Apica Ascent suite of products includes Flow, Lake, and Fleet. The Ascent product suite centers around our telemetry pipeline solution, and optimizes data collection and telemetry data management.
FLOW: Our telemetry pipeline we refer to as Flow. Flow provides the ability to collect data from any source including all data logs, metrics, traces, or events. You ingest the data, reduce, enrich, and transform the data within the pipeline. Our telemetry pipeline provides full data control by ensuring that data is collected from all sources and only data required by downstream platforms is forwarded. If you use Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, or other observability tools, data storage in these tools is vendor specific and expensive. By using our telemetry pipeline, you can collect, filter, and forward only the data needed for each downstream platform. The ROI is immediate, and the data pipeline control ensures more intelligent data management.
LAKE: For Flow, we can also store telemetry data for any length of time and is based on our InstaStore technology for object storage. LAKE is where we store all the data. It is an S3 compatible data store. And when we push data into LAKE, it is either indexed or not indexed. You decide. Then the data can go to any destination.
FLEET: Fleet supports data collection, and our Fleet management enables the ability to manage any number and any type of agents, including open source-based agents. Different agents include opentelemetry, fluentbit, prometheus, and others. You can have an inventory of agents and collectors here and maintain version control. If you have to push updates or push patches, you can do that all centrally. We can detect agent config drift, and we can automatically update as required, depending on the behavior that you want.

Both options price the same suite by daily telemetry data volume, measured in gigabytes ingested each day. The two dimensions share a 500 GB daily ingest level and differ only in data retention. One option ingests data with no retention in Apica Lake. The other adds 30-day retention, keeping your searchable data in Apica Lake with InstaStore or S3-compatible storage. You choose based on whether you need to store and query ingested data afterward. Pricing scales with the daily volume you commit to under a contract.

The unit is the daily volume of telemetry data you send into your observability tools, measured in gigabytes. Telemetry data includes metrics, logs, traces, and events. The 500 GB figure sets the daily amount you commit to ingest each day under the contract.
What does the 30-day retention option store that the no-retention option does not?
The 30-day option keeps your ingested, searchable data in Apica Lake with InstaStore or S3-compatible storage for 30 days. Data stays fully indexed and queryable during that window. The no-retention option processes and routes data without storing it in Apica Lake afterward, so you cannot query it there later.
Which option should I choose if I need to search or replay ingested data later?
Choose the 30-day retention option. It stores indexed data in Apica Lake, letting you search a single log line, replay historical data to a destination, or audit past events within the 30-day window. The no-retention option does not keep data for later search or replay.
