One hour reflects one running instance of the size you choose, such as t3.small or r5.large. The clock runs while the instance is active. Each instance type carries its own hourly rate based on its CPU, memory, and compute capacity. You pay per hour of actual running time.
The software fee meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage costs may still apply while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
The vendor provides maintenance support with the listing. Certified engineers are available for day-to-day questions, version upgrades, security upgrades, and vulnerability handling. This support applies regardless of which instance type you select, so support does not change your hourly rate.
