What does one hourly unit map to for this managed RabbitMQ service?
Each dimension maps to one running AWS EC2 instance of the named type and size. You are billed per hour that instance runs. The managed RabbitMQ software and operations run on that single instance. Compute, memory, and storage capacity depend on the instance family and size you select.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. When you stop the instance, the per-hour charge stops accruing. Underlying AWS storage and related resources may still incur AWS fees while the instance is stopped. To end software charges fully, stop the running instance.
Does the hourly price cover ongoing management, or are those billed separately?
The hourly rate for your chosen instance type includes the managed service. That covers provisioning, monitoring, daily backups, updates, security patching, and SSL. There is no separate charge for these across instance choices. You select one instance type and pay per hour it runs.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Usage instructions
Launch an Instance
From AWS Marketplace, click Continue to Subscribe, then Continue to Configuration, and launch the AMI.
Choose the Recommended Instance Type
Select t2.medium or higher for a smooth RabbitMQ deployment.
Message broker workloads benefit from more CPU/RAM - larger instance types improve queue throughput and management UI responsiveness.
Configure Security Group
Allow inbound traffic on the following ports:
22 (SSH) - For secure terminal access
80 (HTTP) - Required temporarily for SSL validation
443 (HTTPS) - Secure access to RabbitMQ UI in browser
Connect to the Instance
Use SSH to connect:

First-Boot Setup (Guided)
On first login, an interactive guided setup will automatically start:
Detects public IP
Prompts for domain name mapping to RabbitMQ
Validates DNS A-record propagation
Asks for admin email for SSL certificate registration
Generates a strong secure RabbitMQ admin password
Stores credentials in /opt/app/.env
Creates Apache reverse proxy configuration
Requests & installs a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate
Deploys RabbitMQ using Docker Compose
Displays access URL & login credentials after completion

Before (or during) setup, add this DNS A-record:

Setup continues only when major resolvers confirm valid mapping.
