This listing bills per hour based on the AWS EC2 instance type you run. The software itself carries no license fee, so each dimension reflects the compute size you pick for your managed PostgreSQL deployment. Options span hundreds of instance families, from small burstable types like t1.micro and t3.nano to large memory, compute, storage, and GPU instances such as x1e, r7iz, and metal sizes. Pricing scales with the instance's capacity: larger instances cost more per hour. You choose the instance that matches your workload, and billing follows your actual hours of use.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the software fee cover, and am I charged when my instance is stopped?
The software carries no license fee, so each hourly rate reflects only the compute size you run. Charges accrue per running instance-hour. Fully stopped instances stop the hourly metering, though underlying AWS storage costs may still apply separately from this listing.
What is included in the managed PostgreSQL deployment for each instance I choose?
Every deployment includes provisioning, networking, SSL setup, monitoring dashboards, daily automated backups, one-click updates, and automatic security patches. You pick the instance size that matches your workload, and the vendor handles ongoing operations. These services apply regardless of which instance family you select.
How do I decide which instance type to pick, and what changes my cost?
Cost scales with the instance's capacity. Small burstable types like t1.micro and t3.nano cost less per hour. Large memory, compute, storage, and GPU instances such as x1e, r7iz, and metal sizes cost more. Match the instance to your database's memory and compute needs.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
