Cloud Relay combines Wave Relay routing algorithms with common Layer 3 routing protocols and industry proven security methods to simplify the rapid deployment of a secure global MANET architecture.
The Cloud Relay Hub Router is a critical component of the Cloud Relay networking solution included in all Wave Relay devices. Cloud Relay combines Wave Relay routing algorithms with common Layer 3 routing protocols and industry proven security methods to simplify the rapid deployment of a secure, global MANET architecture.
Cloud Relay creates a flat network and simplifies the distribution of data to end devices. This flat architecture enables global access to all unicast and multicast data capabilities (voice, video, situational awareness) that are available in the Wave Relay MANET.
Cloud Relay Virtual Hub Router enables:
Rapid Deployment - Set up a Cloud Relay hub in minutes and remove it when it is no longer needed.
Global Flexibility - Set up a Cloud Relay hub in any Region supported by Amazon.
High Availability - Count on AWS's proven reliability
Any hardware that may be required with this listing must be obtained separately. Please review the product details for more information.
Highlights
Quick & Simple - Set up a Cloud Relay hub with a click of a button - no struggling with a physical router or custom configurations.
Low latency - Establish a Cloud Relay hub close to your area of operation
Low cost - only set up and pay for a hub when you need it
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
This listing bills on a single usage-based dimension tied to the c5.large instance size, charged per hour. You pay for each hour the software runs on that instance, with no upfront commitment. Your cost scales directly with how long you keep the router running. There are no separate tiers or add-on dimensions to choose from. The product acts as a virtual hub router that extends network connectivity across fixed sites, mobile platforms, and remote users using standards-based encryption. Hourly billing lets you start and stop as your connectivity needs change.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What resources do I get for the c5.large hourly rate?
You run the virtual hub router software on a single c5.large EC2 instance. This is a fixed compute size with 2 virtual CPUs. The hourly software charge covers running the router on that instance. Underlying AWS infrastructure charges for the instance apply separately.
Am I charged when the router instance is stopped?
The software charge meters running time only. Hours accrue while the c5.large instance runs the router. Fully stopped instances do not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, which are billed separately from the software.
What does the Cloud Relay hub router do for the hourly charge?
The router acts as a hub in a hub-and-spoke network. It extends connectivity to fixed sites, mobile platforms, and remote users. It supports standard IP devices and uses standards-based encryption. It can route across multiple network transport types. The hourly charge covers running this routing function.

CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
