Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for this pre-built container management image, billed per running EC2 instance. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the instance size and family you choose. Smaller instances like t3.nano or t2.micro carry lower hourly rates, while larger compute, memory, GPU, storage, and bare-metal instances such as u-24tb1.metal or p4d.24xlarge cost more. The software runs the same across all instances. You control cost by selecting the instance that fits your workload and running only what you need.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one running EC2 instance charged per hour. Each dimension name matches a specific EC2 instance type, such as t3.medium or r5.4xlarge. You pay the hourly software rate for each instance you launch, counted separately per running instance.
The software rate meters running hours only. Stopped or terminated instances do not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are AWS charges, not the software licence charge.
Each running instance bills independently at the hourly rate for its instance type. Your total is the sum across all running instances. Running more instances, or larger instance families, raises the total. Running fewer or smaller instances lowers it.
