Cost visibility has transformed our unit economics and now drives better engineering decisions
What is our primary use case?
CloudZero is a cloud cost intelligence platform that provides detailed visibility into AWS spending and helps us understand how infrastructure costs relate to specific product services and engineering initiatives.
We use CloudZero across our AWS environment to monitor spending, identify optimization opportunities, and improve our financial accountability. One of our primary use cases is allocating cloud costs to specific products and teams. Rather than viewing AWS cost as a single monthly bill, CloudZero helps us understand where resources are being consumed and which workloads generate the highest cost. We run a containerized workload on Kubernetes , and CloudZero provides visibility into cluster-level and application-level spending, which helps our team understand the financial impact of infrastructure decisions.
What is most valuable?
CloudZero offers excellent Cost Intelligence and Context features, with the most valuable capability being the ability to connect cloud spending with business outcomes. Traditional cloud billing tools often focus on infrastructure cost, but CloudZero helps us answer questions such as which application is driving cost, which team owns the spend, and how infrastructure cost impacts profitability. CloudZero has provided us with unit economics and visibility into workload efficiency. Cost allocation and anomaly detection are significant features, as identifying unused spending patterns helped us act quickly before costs escalated. Executive reporting makes it easier to communicate cloud spending information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The Cost Intelligence feature has had the biggest impact on my organization because previously we used other platforms, but the visibility, unit economics, and anomaly detection are much more improved here.
CloudZero has delivered practical benefits to my organization including faster cost investigation, better architecture decisions, easier executive communication, improved resource governance, and reduced manual analysis.
What needs improvement?
CloudZero could be improved by introducing forecasting features, as expanded predictive analysis in future cost forecasting would provide additional value. Broader third-party integration options would also improve visibility across complex environments.

Great for attributing cloud spend to specific data science projects
CloudZero’s Customizable Cost Tracking with Business Insight
I don’t have to rely on rigid, predefined reports. I can tailor the cost tracking to match our business needs and present the data in a way that makes sense for leadership and engineering teams. That level of customization has been the most valuable part for me.
While the analytics capability is powerful, having to build a new dashboard each time I wanted detailed insight felt cumbersome and time-consuming. It would be much more efficient if more detailed usage metrics were accessible directly within the standard Explorer view.
That benefits us by giving better visibility into what’s driving spend, improving forecasting, and enabling more informed decisions around optimization and pricing.
