What does the r5n instance size determine for my caching capacity?
Each r5n instance is a memory-optimized EC2 machine. Larger sizes add more memory and compute for the cache compute layer. Because the software decouples storage to EBS and S3 object storage, the instance size sets throughput and in-memory capacity, while persistent data lives on separate object storage.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped?
Software charges accrue per running instance-hour. A stopped instance stops the hourly software meter. You still pay any underlying AWS storage costs, such as EBS and S3 object storage used to hold persistent data, since those resources remain provisioned even when the compute instance is not running.
How do storage costs relate to the hourly instance charge?
The instance-hour charge covers the compute layer only. The architecture separates storage from compute, so data persists on EBS and S3 object storage. Those AWS storage services bill independently of the hourly software charge. Both appear on your AWS invoice, so total cost reflects compute hours plus storage used.
