ISBC fully managed Windows Server 2022 AMI optimized for AI and HPC workloads, serving as head node, pre/post node, or compute node with integrated DCV and web-based cluster management.
ISBC Managed Windows Server 2022 AMI for AI and HPC Workloads
Deploy a fully managed Windows Server 2022 AMI purpose-built for AI and High Performance Computing (HPC) environments on AWS. This AMI from ISBC KOREA functions as a head node, pre/post processing node, or compute node - giving you flexible building blocks for your HPC cluster architecture.
Key Capabilities
Web-Based HPC Management Portal - Manage job scheduling, resource allocation, and cluster operations through an integrated web interface. Resource nodes connect directly to the HPC Web Portal Service for centralized control.
eVDI and Remote Visualization - Pre-installed DCV Server and DCV-SM Agent enable GPU-accelerated 3D visualization sessions with OpenGL support, ideal for engineering and scientific visualization workloads.
Pre/Post Workload Session Management - Dedicated session management for pre-processing and post-processing workflows, allowing researchers and engineers to prepare data and review results without consuming compute node resources.
BYOL Software Integration - Bring your own commercial R&D software and development IDE solutions. The AMI is configured to support integration of licensed third-party applications commonly used in scientific computing and engineering simulation.
Use Cases
Engineering Simulation and CAE - Run GPU-accelerated computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, or electromagnetic simulation workloads. Engineers submit jobs through the HPC portal, leverage compute nodes for processing, and visualize results via DCV 3D sessions.
AI and Machine Learning Development - Use the AMI as a development VDI environment for AI-ML engineering, with GPU acceleration for model training and inference workloads.
Scientific Visualization - Researchers access GPU-accelerated OpenGL rendering through eVDI sessions to interact with large datasets and 3D models without transferring data to local workstations.
Architecture Overview
The AMI supports three deployment roles within your HPC cluster:
Head Node - Runs the HPC management portal and orchestrates job distribution across compute resources.
Compute Node - Executes AI, HPC, and GPU-accelerated workloads submitted through the portal.
Pre/Post Node - Provides interactive DCV-based visualization and data preparation environments for users.

Windows Server 2022 (x64)
NICE DCV Server for remote desktop and 3D visualization
DCV Session Manager (DCV-SM) Agent for centralized session management
HPC Web Portal integration components
Pre-configured support for GPU-accelerated OpenGL workloads
AWS Integration
This AMI is designed to run on AWS EC2 instances with GPU capabilities for visualization and compute workloads. It integrates with the ISBC HPC Web Portal Service for cluster management and job scheduling.
Getting Started
Launch the AMI on your chosen EC2 instance type, configure network connectivity to your HPC Web Portal Service, and begin deploying AI and HPC workloads. ISBC provides fully managed support including integration assistance, migration guidance, and ongoing maintenance.
About ISBC KOREA
ISBC KOREA provides fully managed support for AI-HPC cloud environments, covering end-to-end technical support, integration, migration, and maintenance. Their managed service includes configuration of DCV-based eVDI environments, HPC portal setup, and BYOL software integration.
Note: This is a repackaged software product with additional charges for ISBC fully managed AMI support services.
Highlights
Deploy a pre-configured Windows Server 2022 AMI that functions as a head node, compute node, or pre/post processing node for AI and HPC workloads on AWS. The integrated HPC Web Portal provides centralized job scheduling and resource management, while DCV Server and DCV-SM Agent deliver GPU-accelerated 3D visualization sessions - eliminating the need to manually configure each component separately.
Integrate your existing commercial R&D software licenses (BYOL) and development IDEs into a managed cloud HPC environment. ISBC handles the configuration and ongoing management of pre/post workload sessions and AI-ML development VDI environments, so your engineering teams can focus on research rather than infrastructure administration.
Access fully managed eVDI sessions with GPU-accelerated OpenGL 3D graphics through DCV Session Manager. ISBC provides end-to-end technical support covering integration, migration, and maintenance - including DCV session management, compute workload optimization, and HPC portal configuration for your specific workflow requirements.

You pay by the hour for the compute instance you run this Windows Server 2022 image on. Pricing scales with the instance size and family you pick. Compute-optimized C-family instances suit general R&D and simulation work. G-family instances add GPUs for AI, machine learning, and graphics tasks. HPC-family instances target tightly coupled high-performance computing jobs. Within each family, hourly rates rise as you move to more vCPUs, memory, and larger or metal sizes. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get when I run one instance for an hour?
You get one running virtual machine of the size you selected, preloaded with Windows Server 2022 and the R&D software image. Compute-optimized C-family instances give you vCPUs and memory. G-family adds GPUs. HPC-family targets tightly coupled jobs. You pay for each hour that instance runs.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or powered off?
Hourly software charges apply only while an instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Underlying AWS storage and other AWS resources may still bill separately. To end all software charges, stop or terminate the instance when your work pauses.
How does moving to a larger instance size change my hourly cost?
Each instance size bills at its own hourly rate. Larger sizes carry more vCPUs, memory, and in some cases GPUs, so their hourly rate is higher. Metal sizes provide dedicated physical hardware. You choose the size before launch, and switching sizes means launching a different instance.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
