Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for RabbitMQ running on Windows Server 2019. The software cost is the same across all options; what changes is the EC2 instance size you pick. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS instance type, from small general-purpose machines to large compute, memory, storage, and GPU instances. Larger instances give more CPU, memory, and networking, so your hourly rate rises with the instance size. You choose the instance that fits your messaging workload. Billing runs only while your instance is running, with no upfront commitment or fixed term.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type. One hour covers the RabbitMQ software license plus that instance running on Windows Server 2019 for that hour. You are billed for each hour the instance runs, counted per instance you launch.
Hourly software charges accrue only while your instance runs. A stopped instance stops the software meter. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk, but the RabbitMQ license meters running time only.
You choose the instance dimension when you launch. To scale, you stop the current instance and start a instance mapped to a different dimension. Your hourly rate then matches that new instance size. There is no fixed term, so you switch as workload changes.
