Overview
Quantum physics is the only way to produce random numbers that are truly unpredictable. The SeQRNG by Sequre Quantum uses a quantum process to generate unpredictable numbers, and employs modern quantum verification techniques to certify the private random output in real time, attaining compliance with the quantum entropy source type QES2 specification from the International Telecommunications Union (document X.1702). The SeQRNG is based on patented technology. User requests for random numbers are made using a simple API, and the random output is generated in real time. Random numbers are the key building block for many applications in encryption, gaming, computer simulations, and sampling. Poor random number generators are a well-known security risk that has been exploited for hacking and espionage. The SeQRNG is not just a passive quantum noise source, rather it is an active device that toggles between different modes of operation millions of times per second, such that the quantum signature as well as the private entropy of the output is certified. This makes it robust against hardware malfunctions, as well as most hardware attacks. The SeQRNG is compliant with specifications from the U.S. National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) in special publication SP800-90B. The output random sequences routinely passes all 189 statistical tests described in NIST special publication 800-22. Requests are limited to 2048 bytes (16,384 bits)/request, and usage is limited to 100 requests per day. Because of the real-time quantum certification performed individually, each request, regardless the size, requires at least 1-2 seconds to be executed. It is also important to note that the request queue is executed on a first-come, first-served basis, which could lead to an increase in response time.
