Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you run this backup software on. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, and storage capacity you choose. Smaller instances like t3.micro carry lower hourly rates. Larger instances like the u7in-32tb.224xlarge carry higher rates because they offer more resources. There are no tiers or feature differences between dimensions. You select the instance that fits your backup workload, and billing follows the hours that instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly unit covers one running EC2 instance of the type you select. The instance ships with the backup software preinstalled, including job definitions for managing backup, recovery, and verification across networked computers. You access the console through a web browser using the admin login and instance ID.
Software charges accrue per hour while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software meters running hours only.
You launch a new instance of the type that fits your workload and pay that instance's hourly rate. There are no tiers or feature differences between instance types. Larger instances offer more compute, memory, and storage, so switching changes your hourly rate accordingly.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Sensitive Information
bacula contains no cryptographically stored data and does not perform any encryption at rest.
Local X509 PKI may be utilised to manage network-based TLS. All certificates and keys are stored locally in /etc/pki and it is completely at your discretion to regenerate any of these at any time; the product will transparently operate on any consistent set of configured keys.
bacula ships with openssl, step-cli and other popular tools to facilitate certificate regeneration.

The SSH user for your instance is ec2-user. You can connect by using the private key of the key pair you launched the instance with:
