    WordPress on Ubuntu 24.04 - Pre-Configured, Production-Ready AMI

Launch a fully configured WordPress site on AWS in minutes - no manual stack assembly required. This AMI ships with Apache, MariaDB, Let's Encrypt SSL, ProFTPd, and Webmin pre-installed and tuned so you can focus on building your site instead of configuring infrastructure.

This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for support & maintenance.

    Who This Is For

This AMI is built for developers, IT administrators, and agency owners at small-to-medium businesses who need a reliable, secure WordPress hosting environment on AWS without spending hours on server setup.

    Quick-Start Deployment Steps

    1. Launch the AMI on a t3.small instance (minimum recommended) with at least 20 GB EBS storage
    2. SSH into your instance using your EC2 key pair on port 22
    3. Access Webmin at https://your-server-ip:10000  using the default credentials displayed in the system log
    4. Log into WordPress at http://your-server-ip/wp-admin  to begin site configuration
    5. Configure your domain by pointing DNS A records to your instance's Elastic IP
    6. Activate Let's Encrypt SSL through the Webmin interface to secure your domain with HTTPS
    7. Create FTP users via ProFTPd for secure file uploads and theme/plugin management

Expected time from launch to live site: approximately 15-20 minutes with a registered domain.

    Pre-Configured Stack Components

    • Apache Web Server: Configured with mod_rewrite enabled, Gzip compression active, and optimized MPM settings for WordPress workloads on Ubuntu 24.04
    • MariaDB: Pre-tuned database server with InnoDB buffer pool sized for the instance, ready for WordPress content storage
    • Let's Encrypt SSL: Automated certificate provisioning and renewal through Webmin, securing your site with free TLS certificates
    • ProFTPd Server: Secure FTP access for file management, configured with TLS support and chroot jails for user isolation
    • Webmin Control Panel: Browser-based server administration at port 10000 for managing Apache virtual hosts, MariaDB databases, FTP users, SSL certificates, and system updates
    • PHP: Current stable release with OPcache enabled for improved WordPress page generation performance

Use Case: Launching a WooCommerce Store

A small retail business with 5,000-10,000 daily visitors can deploy this AMI on a t3.medium instance, install the WooCommerce plugin through WordPress admin, configure payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal), and activate Let's Encrypt SSL for PCI-compliant encrypted checkout - all within a single session. Use Webmin to monitor server resources and ProFTPd to upload custom theme files.

    Additional Use Cases

    • Business Websites: Dynamic company sites with contact forms, landing pages, and blog content on scalable AWS infrastructure
    • Blogging Platforms: Personal or professional blogs leveraging WordPress's content management and MariaDB's query performance
    • Portfolio Sites: Mobile-responsive showcases for creative professionals using WordPress themes with AWS CloudFront for global delivery
    • Educational Platforms: Online courses and learning management systems with WordPress LMS plugins
    • Multi-Site Networks: WordPress multisite deployments for agencies managing multiple client websites from a single instance

    AWS Integration Points

    • Amazon S3: Offload media files to S3 for cost-effective, durable storage using WordPress S3 plugins
    • Amazon CloudFront: Distribute static assets globally for faster page loads
    • Amazon RDS: Migrate MariaDB to RDS for managed database backups, patching, and Multi-AZ failover
    • AWS CloudWatch: Monitor instance CPU, memory, and disk metrics for proactive scaling decisions
    • Elastic Load Balancing: Scale horizontally by placing multiple instances behind an ALB
    • AWS Backup: Automate EBS snapshot schedules for point-in-time recovery

    Security Configuration

    • Let's Encrypt SSL with automatic certificate renewal every 90 days
    • Apache configured with security headers (X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options)
    • ProFTPd with TLS enforcement and user isolation
    • Webmin accessible only on port 10000 with password authentication
    • SSH key-based authentication (password login disabled by default)

Why Choose This AMI Over Manual Setup

WordPress is a flexible, self-hosted alternative to platforms like Wix, Squarespace, and Shopify, offering full control over design, content, and hosting. This AMI eliminates the need for manual installation of Apache, MariaDB, PHP, and SSL configuration, saving hours of setup time. It provides a production-ready environment with best practices applied for performance and security, allowing users to focus on content creation and business growth rather than server management.

    Highlights

    • Webmin GUI Control Panel with ProFTPd Integration: Manage your entire server through a browser-based admin interface at port 10000. Create and manage FTP users, configure Apache virtual hosts, administer MariaDB databases, and monitor system resources without command-line expertise. ProFTPd provides secure file transfer with TLS encryption and user isolation via chroot jails, making WordPress file uploads and theme management straightforward for teams.
    • Automated Let's Encrypt SSL Certificates: Generate and auto-renew free TLS/SSL certificates directly through the Webmin interface. Let's Encrypt certificates renew automatically every 90 days, ensuring your WordPress site maintains encrypted HTTPS connections without manual intervention. Supports multiple domains and subdomains on a single instance, complementing AWS Certificate Manager for load-balanced deployments.
    • Pre-Tuned LAMP Stack on Ubuntu 24.04: Ships with Apache configured with mod_rewrite, Gzip compression, and optimized MPM settings. PHP includes OPcache enabled for faster page generation. MariaDB is configured with InnoDB buffer pool tuning for WordPress query patterns. The entire stack is tested and integrated so you skip hours of manual installation and configuration - launch and start building your site immediately.
