You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run this radio server software on. The software itself carries an hourly charge, billed on top of standard AWS infrastructure costs. Pricing scales with the compute size you pick. The options cover burstable t2, t3, and t3a families for lighter, variable workloads. They also include general-purpose m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, and m5n families for steadier demand. Sizes range from nano up to 24xlarge and bare metal. You choose the size matching your station count and traffic, then adjust anytime.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover for this radio server software?
You are billed per hour that your chosen EC2 instance runs the software. One unit equals one running virtual machine for one hour. The size you pick sets the hourly rate. This charge covers the pre-built software image; standard AWS compute and storage fees apply separately.
Am I charged the software fee when the instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. When you stop the virtual machine, the software fee stops accruing. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage costs for their attached volumes, but those are separate from the software charge shown here.
How do I move to a bigger instance size if my station traffic grows?
You choose a size when you launch, then change it later. Stop the instance, switch to a size in a burstable or general-purpose family, and restart. The hourly rate updates to match the new size. You only pay the rate for whatever size runs at any given time.
