Highlights
Built-in Anti-Spam - hMailServer comes with a set of built-in anti spam features such as SPF, SURBL. It can also be integrated with 3rd party anti spam systems such as SpamAssassin and ASSP
Security - hMailServer is pre-configured to have high security when it comes to relaying and authentication so that no one can use your server to send spam messages. It also supports the very popular open source virus scanner ClamAV. Configuring hMailServer to use ClamAV only takes a single click! The server also supports black list servers and other spam-stopping mechanisms such as SPF and MX lookups.
Integrations - hMailServer comes with a COM library that can be used for integration with other software. Using the COM library, it's possible to write scripts and full applications that utilize the features in hMailServer. For example, you can integrate hMailServer into your current IT-systems so that new employees automatically get email accounts. Both hMailServer Administrator and the PHP web-based frontend uses the COM API to manage the server.

You pay by the hour for the software running on a Windows Server 2022 instance. Pricing scales with the EC2 instance type you choose. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size and family, from small general-purpose types up to large memory, compute, storage, and GPU-based machines. Smaller instances carry lower hourly rates; larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware cost more per hour. You select the instance that fits your email server workload. The email software itself is the same across all instance types; only the underlying compute capacity and hourly rate differ.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and what software is included on the instance?
Each hourly unit covers one running EC2 instance of the type you select. The instance runs Windows Server 2022 with hMailServer preinstalled and configured on a SQL backend. It supports IMAP, SMTP, and POP3 protocols, plus features like anti-spam, SSL encryption, and domain management.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees may still apply while the instance is stopped, but the software licence bills per running hour of the instance you selected.
Does choosing a larger instance change how the email software works?
No. The hMailServer software is identical across every instance type. Only the underlying compute capacity and the hourly rate change. A larger instance gives more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware for heavier email workloads, but the features and protocols stay the same.

Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
