You pay by the hour for the software running on a Windows 2016 image, billed through your AWS account. Pricing is organized by EC2 instance type, so your cost depends on the compute size you choose. Options span general-purpose families and burstable families, from small sizes up to large multi-core sizes. Larger instances carry more CPU and memory, so their hourly rate is higher. Burstable sizes suit variable, lighter workloads, while general-purpose sizes suit steady demand. The software itself is identical across all instances; only the underlying compute capacity and hourly rate change. Support runs 24/7.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing on a given instance type cover?
You pay for each hour an EC2 instance runs the pre-packaged hMailServer image. The hourly rate reflects the compute size you launch, such as a burstable t-family or general-purpose m-family type. Each running instance meters separately. Larger instances with more CPU and memory carry higher hourly rates.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped?
The software charge meters running time only, so a stopped instance stops accruing the hourly software fee. You may still pay separate AWS charges for attached storage and other resources while the instance is stopped. Charges resume once you start the instance again.
Can I switch to a different instance type later to match my workload?
Yes. Pricing is organized by EC2 instance type, so you can stop the instance and relaunch on another size. The software is identical across all types; only the compute capacity and hourly rate change. Burstable sizes suit variable, lighter mail volume, while general-purpose sizes suit steady demand.
