The software itself is free, so you pay only for the AWS compute instance you run it on. You choose from five hourly instance options: t3.micro, t3.small, t3.medium, t3.large, and m5.large. Each option reflects a different mix of CPU and memory. Smaller instances suit lighter call volumes, while larger instances handle more simultaneous calls. Billing is hourly, so your cost tracks the instance size and how long you run it. You can pick the instance that matches your telephony workload and scale by changing your instance choice.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What CPU and memory do the t3.micro and m5.large instances give me?
MikoPBX runs on Linux and needs modest resources. Its minimum recommended setup is a 1 GHz x86-64 CPU with 512 MB RAM for basic use. Smaller options like t3.micro cover light call loads. Larger options like m5.large add CPU and memory for more simultaneous calls.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
Hourly charges track running time only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing hourly compute charges. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk while the instance is off. The MikoPBX software itself is free, so no license charge applies at any time.
If my call volume grows, how do I move to a bigger instance?
You scale by changing your instance choice rather than adding units. Stop the current instance, switch to one with more CPU and memory, such as moving from t3.small to m5.large, then restart. Hourly billing then reflects the new instance size. MikoPBX places no limit on simultaneous calls or users.
