Overview
MySQL Community Server 8.4 LTS on Ubuntu Server 26.04 LTS is a production-ready Amazon Machine Image (AMI) designed to simplify the deployment of a secure, reliable, and high-performance relational database on Amazon EC2. The AMI comes with MySQL pre-installed and configured for immediate use, allowing organizations to deploy database infrastructure quickly while reducing installation and configuration time.
The image is built on the latest Ubuntu Server 26.04 LTS and includes recommended production configurations such as automatic service startup, UTF8MB4 character encoding, InnoDB storage engine support, slow query logging, error logging, and system log rotation. Security best practices include automatic operating system security updates, firewall support (UFW), Fail2ban for SSH protection, and cloud-init compatibility for seamless provisioning of new EC2 instances.
This AMI is suitable for a wide range of workloads, including web applications, REST APIs, microservices, content management systems (CMS), customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), SaaS applications, e-commerce platforms, analytics solutions, business applications, and development, testing, staging, and production environments. It integrates easily with AWS services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon EBS, Amazon VPC, AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Backup, and Elastic Load Balancing (where applicable to the application architecture).
