You pay by the hour for each Amazon EC2 instance running this Ubuntu 26.04 LTS image with Cloudfu support. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, and the hourly rate follows that instance's size and family. Smaller instances like t3.nano cost less per hour, while large compute, memory, storage, and accelerated instances such as metal and 96xlarge sizes cost more. You choose the instance type that fits your workload, and billing scales with the hours you run. The software fee bundles regular patching and 24/7 technical support.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for billing?
One unit is one running Amazon EC2 instance of the type you pick, billed per hour. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type. If you run several instances, each one meters and bills separately. The rate reflects that instance's family and size.
Am I charged the software fee when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software fee meters running hours only. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Note that AWS may still bill for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but that is separate from this software fee.
What is bundled into the hourly software fee besides the operating system?
The fee covers the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS image plus Cloudfu support. That includes regular patching and updates to the image, along with 24/7 technical support by email. These are included with every instance type at the same hourly rate for that type.
